Chapter 35 - Returning to the Merman Race

Lei Luo went out for a day and only returned to the island at night with a Black Scaled Fish.

Meanwhile, the merman priest he took away was already gone.

After returning to the island, Lei Luo began to process the Black Scaled Fish skillfully. As he thought about the memories he had extracted from the merman priest's mind, he did not expect that a mere Merman Race would have such information. It was simply unbelievable.

Not only would it affect him, but it would also impact the Poison Dragon bloodline and other members of the Dragon Race.

"I'm still not strong enough. If I were strong enough, I wouldn't care about those scruples. I would just stand out and admit it."

"I can't investigate my parents for now. I have to be more tactful."

After recalling everything he'd learned, Lei Luo's mood soured, but he quickly composed himself.

The Poison Dragon bloodline had lived for hundreds of thousands of years. He was only born a little more than two years ago and still had a long time to grow. He would not be powerless forever.

Lei Luo's eyes didn't focus until Shardin and Sharbao came ashore and approached him cautiously from a distance.

"Great Poison Dragon, you told me yesterday that you would conduct a magic test on us. I wonder when it will begin?"

Sharbao asked nervously as he approached Lei Luo.

He had been looking forward to this for the entire day, but he hadn't expected that the Poison Dragon would come back to deal with the Black Scaled Fish before getting distracted. It didn't seem to have any intention of asking them to go over. Thus, Sharbao had no choice but to pull Shardin ashore with him to ask.

Lei Luo gradually regained his senses and looked down at Shardin and Sharbao.

"Oh, it's you guys. It'll be carried out later. Who wants to take the test first? After the test, you return to the Merman Race first."

Shardin and Sharbao had already discussed.

Sharbao took two steps forward and said, "Great Poison Dragon, let me do it."

"Okay, wait by the side first. During the test, you must not have any thoughts of resisting. Otherwise, you will bear the consequences yourself."

Lei Luo waved his claws and casually reminded him.

Sharbao nodded to show that he understood. He stood obediently at the side, while Shardin was further away.

After dealing with the outer shell of the Black Scaled Fish, Lei Luo placed it on the pile of wood. Without any instructions, Shardin sensibly stepped forward to help light the fire and skillfully turned the fish over.

Although there was no extinct volcano that could be used here, with Shardin and the others around, it was easy to light a fire.

Then, Lei Luo turned to face Sharbao, his expression serious. "Stand still. Do not resist in your heart."

With that said, he started chanting in a low voice.

He had used it on the merman priest today, so he was quite familiar with it now. His spiritual power surged out from his mind and surged towards Sharbao.

Sharbao was feeling nervous. He sensed Lei Luo's spiritual power and remembered what Lei Luo said before. Then, he quickly closed his eyes.

The Memory Extraction Spell was relatively gentle to people who did not resist. Lei Luo's spiritual power washed over Sharbao in layers, extracting many memories from Sharbao's mind.

Be it in the Merman Race or after following Lei Luo, Sharbao's life couldn't be considered exciting, and he hadn't seen many people either. Thus, his memories weren't complicated.

Ten minutes later, the memory extraction was completed.

Lei Luo checked Sharbao's memories over the past few months and realized that from his initial hostility to his current obedience, Sharbao no longer had any ill feelings towards him. Instead, he had the intention to follow him and strengthen the Merman Race.

After all, the Poison Dragon Race was also part of the Dragon Race and belonged to one of the top races on the continent. A branch of sea beasts like the Merman Race didn't have much weight in the continent.

Sharbao was interested in Lei Luo's ability and future. Thus, Sharbao wanted to follow him.

Lei Luo's eyes flickered and he was tempted.

Subsidiary races were very common among the powerful races on the continent. After all, it was very suitable to have someone to clean up and run errands for them. Furthermore, these subsidiary races could also help collect resources.

Powerful races did not need to pay these subsidiary races much. Meanwhile, the subsidiary races could use the name of the powerful races to intimidate the enemy.

"I can develop in that direction, but it's still too early right now. I need to develop steadily first. Developing my strength is the correct path."

"I can train Sharbao a little as well."

A few thoughts flashed through his mind. Lei Luo retracted his spiritual power and said slowly, "Alright, you can go back to the Merman Race tomorrow. I think you know what to pay attention to."

"At the same time, find out if there's any sensational news in the human world. Report to me in half a month."

Sharbao smiled. "Okay, I'll be careful."

As Shardin roasted the fish, he paid close attention to Sharbao and Lei Luo. Seeing that Sharbao could really return to the race tomorrow, he couldn't help but ask, "Great Poison Dragon, when do you think I should be tested?"

Lei Luo waved a paw. "I'll give you the test when Sharbao gets back. If there are no problems there, you don't have to keep following me."

"You can return to your race to live. However, if you want the Merman Race to develop further, it's impossible to rely on humans alone."

These words seemed to be hinting at something. If they couldn't rely on humans, who else could they rely on?

Apart from the Poison Dragon in front of them, who could bring the Merman Race to greater heights?

However, there had to be a price to pay for the gains, and the price to pay was unknown.

Sharbao smiled somewhat unnaturally. He saw that Shardin had finished cooking the fish and pulled him back into the sea.

The two of them didn't respond directly, but Lei Luo wasn't in a hurry either. As he gained more inherited memories, his confidence in facing the Merman Race rose. The longer this dragged on, the better it was for him.

Lei Luo shook his head and stopped thinking about those things. Instead, he grabbed the roasted Black Scaled Fish and started eating.

On the second day, Sharbao went ashore and greeted them before heading back to the Merman Tribe.

Lei Luo didn't say anything. As usual, he went out to hunt Level-5 sea beasts to eat. At the same time, he practiced all kinds of magic and combat techniques from his memories.

The distance from the new habitat to the sea area of the Merman Race was not short. Sharbao swam for four days before arriving.

After entering the sea region of the Merman Race, Sharbao realized that it was no different from usual. However, the coral and pearls that were stored at the bottom of the sea for trading with human merchants had disappeared. The human merchants should have come by now.

Sharbao looked around with the gaze of the tribe leader. When he returned to his territory, he was quickly welcomed by the members of the Merman Race.

"Tribe leader, you're finally back. We thought that something had happened to you and you were affected by the powerful humans."

"It's great that you're fine. Where is the Lord Priest?"

"Tribe leader, where have you been for the past month? I couldn't find you in the surrounding seas, and I almost had to choose a new tribe leader."

"Tribe leader, many things have happened in the past few days when you weren't around. There are still many human experts."

The members of the Merman Race spoke one after another, and the scene was bustling and chaotic.

Sha Bao was dumbfounded when he heard these. He only noticed that a new tribe leader was almost chosen and felt a little unhappy, but he could not flare up. He raised his hand to stop them and said, "Everyone, calm down first. We will hold a banquet tonight to celebrate. I will explain where I went. Now, I hope someone will come and tell me what happened in the past month."

"I heard you mention human experts just now. Does anyone understand the situation surrounding them?"

Gehr, who had previously been cured of his poison injuries, raised his arm. "Triber leader, let me tell you about it."

"When the human merchants came to trade previously, I came into contact with them and bought a copy of their newspaper. A lot of information was recorded on it. Furthermore, it was much lighter than our fish scales."
