Chapter 21 - Seizing the First Move

The aroma of the Amethyst Cloud Fruit was still spreading, attracting the attention of many sea beasts.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

When Lei Luo emerged from the sea and soared into the sky, the surface of the sea exploded and 30 meters of seawater rose.

In the sea, many sea beasts looked at Lei Luo ferociously. Unfortunately, they still fell back into the sea with the help of gravity.

"Hmph, you still want to snatch my fruit? If you have the ability, then soar into the sky."

Lei Luo circled high in the air while laughing recklessly.

He could not defeat Level-4 sea beasts in the sea. He could only rely on his poisonous breath to gain the upper hand. However, if the sea beasts left the sea, the situation would be reversed.

After circling above the sea for a while, Lei Luo turned back to the island. Then, he found that the sea creatures at the bottom of the sea had followed him all the way and refused to give up.

He immediately went to the area where Level-6 sea beasts appeared and took a detour to return.

Although he had lost the two tuna he had obtained during this hunt, it was worth it to obtain two Amethyst Cloud Fruits.

With these two Amethyst Cloud Fruits, Lei Luo's schedule instantly became much more relaxed. There was no need to increase his strength so urgently. Even if the Merman Race had a Level-5 warrior, after eating a Amethyst Cloud Fruit and leveling up to Level-3, he could easily deal with it.

When he reached Level-3, it would be even easier. A Level-4 Poison Dragon fighting a Level-5 merman warrior was as simple as an adult bullying a child.

"Should I launch a sneak attack on the Merman Race now, or should I wait for the Merman Race to surround my island and give them a surprise?"

"It's risky to move out, but with the Amethyst Cloud Fruit, it's good to test the strength of the Merman Race."

On his return journey, many thoughts flashed through Lei Luo's mind.

When he saw the island appear from afar, he made a decision in his heart. He would ambush the Merman Race and strike first!

If he could not win after eating the Amethyst Cloud Fruits, he would have to be more cautious.

After doing so, he would be able to understand the situation surrounding his parents and the humans on the continent more quickly. He would be able to make a decision whether to seek revenge or find his family first.

After landing at the edge of the extinct volcano, Lei Luo first looked at the distribution of fish in the periphery. The two mermen did not dare to leave.

Then, he calmed his thoughts and began to extract the [Hardness] characteristic of the rocks to fuse into his body.

Previously, he had been nurturing his poisonous breath and adding the [Fire Poison] characteristic to it to increase the lethality of his poisonous breath. Now that he was going to launch a sneak attack on the Merman Race, he had to strengthen his body. He also had to ensure that his lethality and survivability were not conflicting with each other.

While Lei Luo was extracting characteristics and synthesizing them, Shardin and Sharbao were drawing a map of the bottom of the sea.

Shardin accepted Sharbao's excuse and worked hard without any psychological obstacles.

Among the Merman Race, they were considered elite warriors. They were very clear about most things, not to mention the layout of sea maps and the location of the race.

Every now and then, Sharbao would mark a few wrong places, and Shardin would make the edits.

Two days passed very quickly.

On the third day, Lei Luo deliberately went out to the sea to hunt two Level-4 Golden Sharks and specially placed them at the edge of an extinct volcano to barbecue them. Then, he called Shardin and Sharbao up.

After the Level-4 creatures were roasted by the charcoal, the fragrance they emitted was extremely rich and was mixed with a strong magical power aura.

Anyone with a bit of intelligence understood what level of creature it was.

Shardin and Shardin put on their shields and arrived in front of the extinct volcano. They saw the enormous bodies of the Golden Sharks at a glance. The occasional intense magical fluctuation on the golden skin of the sharks was far from what the Level-3 merman warriors could compare with.

"A… A Level-4 Golden Shark. There's even two of them."

"Golden Sharks usually move in small groups. In order to hunt two Golden Sharks, they have to deal with at least five Golden Sharks. Is this really a young Poison Dragon?"

"How terrifying. Fortunately, we didn't choose to fight him. The advantage of the Merman Race lies at the bottom of the sea. This Poison Dragon can deal with the Golden Sharks and can fly. How can we possibly win?"

Shardin and Sharbao looked at each other. They were even more determined to betray their race.

Of course, from their point of view, this wasn't called betrayal. Rather, they were preserving the seeds of life for their race to avoid being wiped out.

This Poison Dragon in front of them was definitely not something that the Merman Race could hunt right now. They would simply be courting death if they did so.

Meanwhile, Lei Luo was waiting for the Golden Sharks to be roasted beside the extinct volcano.

He glanced at Shardin and Sharbao, who were on the shore. He saw their trembling bodies and fearful eyes clearly.

"Sure enough, this sort of deterrence is better. Let them see the disparity in strength."

Lei Luo felt a little pleased with himself, but he didn't show it. He didn't bother with Shardin or Sharbao. Instead, he waited until the Golden Shark was almost done roasting, scooped it up, and started eating.

When put together, the two Golden Sharks were two-fifths the size of Lei Luo's body. Since he needed to absorb the energy within the sharks, he did not perform characteristic extraction.

Furthermore, with these two members of the Merman Race watching him, he didn't want to use Characteristic Synthesis to prevent this information from leaking.

When he was done with his meal, an hour had passed.

The sun could no longer be seen. Only the clouds on the horizon were dyed red with the afterglow.

Lei Luo threw the skeletons of the Golden Sharks into the extinct volcano and turned to look at Shardin and Sharbao. "Have you prepared the plan and topographic map I asked for?"

"I will take one of you and leave. The other one will stay here. If I return within ten days, I will give you the antidote. If I don't return, it will be more convenient for you to think of a place to die. Also, if I realize that there is something wrong along the journey, the one leading the way should quickly write your last words."

"Only if I live will you have a chance to live. If I die, you will die with me."

"I'll give you guys another half an hour to edit the materials. Think carefully before you give them to me."

Although he was not sure if there were any traps in the topographic map and plan given by the two of them, by saying this, he could at least put an end to many of their thoughts.

Furthermore, it was obvious at a glance if the topographic map and proposal had been altered in just half an hour.

Shardin was stunned for a moment before he said, "The map and plan are ready. There's nothing missing."

With that said, he took out a scale the size of two palms. On it was a map of the sea region. The map even indicated the direction where the human territory was located.

On the opposite side of the map was a plan with small, densely-packed words.

Sharbao opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he remained silent.

Lei Luo's eyes narrowed. "Are you sure that you want to submit this?"

Upon hearing the question, Sharbao answered first, "Alright, there are no big problems. There might be some flaws, but it won't affect anything."

"I am the one who drew most of the topographic map here. If you want to go to the Merman Race, I hope that I can lead the way for you. Please spare the low-leveled members of the Merman Race on the periphery. After all, if there aren't any clansmen, there's no point in being the Clan Head."

Lei Luo looked at Shardin with a faint smile and nodded slightly. "Sure. Shardin will stay on the island. If we fail this time, Shardin, find a good cemetery."

"You can go back. I'll inform you when we set off."
