Chapter 19 - Betraying the Merman Race

Shardin's expression changed, and he subconsciously turned to look at Sharbao. He wanted Sharbao to make a decision.

They could already be considered to have betrayed their race by revealing the information they had mentioned at the beginning. If they were discovered when they returned, they would definitely be executed. At this moment, it wasn't a big deal for them to leak the information again. Furthermore, whether they could live a comfortable life in the future depended on the Poison Dragon's mood.

A cold light flashed in Sharbao's eyes. Without any hesitation, he said, "Greater Poison Dragon, the Merman Race's location is under an island 8,000 nautical miles away."

"The Merman Race can empty the island from underneath it while monitoring the surface of the ground."

"If we go there, it will take about six days, given the speed Shardin and I are traveling at. If we don't return the message, the race will tacitly agree that we have been attacked or have died. Then, they will send someone else to investigate. But that won't necessarily happen."

"After all, the merman priest has already determined your existence. He might not send our clansmen here. Either that, or he might just lead the entire race here to hunt you down."

"Is that so?" Lei Luo's eyes flashed. The sneak attack seemed impossible now.

The scene fell into silence. The sea breeze blew, bringing a chill.

The shields on the bodies of Shardin and Sharbao flickered. They could not hold on much longer.

Without a shield, they would be quite uncomfortable on the shore. Furthermore, it would cause permanent damage to their bodies over time.

However, it wasn't a good decision to directly raise their opinion with this unknown Poison Dragon.

Sharbao recalled the question that Lei Luo had asked previously and had some guesses.

He hesitated for a moment before gritting his teeth and saying, "Esteemed Poison Dragon, if you want to deal with the Merman Race, I don't recommend that you go personally. After all, there are too many mermen there, and you will be at a disadvantage. You can choose to launch a sneak attack."

"The Merman Race lives under an island, and the bottom of the island has been hollowed out by them. There's also a small hole that leads to the sky."

"If you inject your poisonous breath into the small hole, you will definitely be able to severely injure the Merman Race. At the very least, you will cause trouble for them, and they won't be able to deal with you in the short term. However, this method is effective only for the first time, so it's hard to say what will happen in the future."

Upon hearing this, Lei Luo was tempted, but then he became suspicious again. He stared at Shardin and Sharbao. "You are also members of the Merman Race. Why are you helping me?"

He felt that without Sharbao's suggestion, he would not think of going there.

The two of them could choose not to say anything. After all, the initiative was in their hands. There was no need for them to do their best.

If Sharbao and Shardin slacked off, Lei Luo would not have a source of information and could not determine whether he could attack the Merman Race.

This was unless the two of them told Lei Luo this information that tempted him not to help him. Instead, they wanted to lead him to the camp of the Merman Race. At that time, they would use some secret methods to inform the Merman Race and surround him.

A merman tribe leader that was suspected to have advanced to Level-5, two Level-4 mermen warriors, and other Level-3 mermen could pose a great threat to a Level-2 Poison Dragon like him.

If Lei Luo was not careful, he might be captured by the Merman Race.

Although the Dragon Race was naturally powerful, it did not mean that they could sweep through the other races. Only strength could decide everything.

Lei Luo's dragon eyes flashed with killing intent as he looked coldly at Shardin and Sharbao.

When the two of them sensed the killing intent from Lei Luo, their faces were filled with panic and confusion. They didn't understand why things had turned out like this when they were originally having a good conversation.

Did the Poison Dragon not have any credibility and want to go back on its word?

This thought immediately popped up in Shardin's head, and he wanted to risk everything.

However, Shardin was quick-witted and understood where the Poison Dragon's killing intent came from. He hurriedly pressed down on Shardin's fish head and smiled awkwardly as he explained, "Esteemed Poison Dragon, please listen to my explanation."

"I understand your concerns, but you can rest assured that I have no intention of harming you."

"The reason why I told you the news so clearly is that we have no way out. We have already betrayed our race. Even if we return, we will not be able to escape the fate of death. We might as well rely on you wholeheartedly. After all, the Poison Dragon bloodline is one of the strongest races on the continent."

"Furthermore, since you were born, you have been staying at sea. In the future, you will definitely head to the human world. I happen to know some information about humans, so I can help you."

"I only hope that after defeating the Merman Race, you will spare the lives of the low-leveled clansmen. I want to be the tribe leader of the Merman Race."

Sharbao explained and revealed his motives.

Lei Luo's eyes narrowed slightly, and his killing intent gradually dissipated. "It better be so. Otherwise, I will make you regret deceiving me."

"Make a plan and a map within three days. Hand it to me when the time comes. Also, I will inject the poison that I can control into your bodies. If you stay here obediently, I will guarantee your safety. Otherwise, just die."

"I don't care about the position of the Merman Race's tribe leader. If you're willing to take up the position, I can support you."

"You are not allowed to leave the sea around the island."

After warning them, Lei Luo raised his claws and slit their arms. Then, a mouthful of pale green energy entered their bodies.

"You can try returning to your race in half a day. Your priest might have a way to help you."

Before leaving, Lei Luo chuckled and reminded them.

With that said, he flapped his wings and left, heading to the sea area to hunt. Because of the two of them, he had not gone out to hunt today. However, he had to eat everyday.

As soon as Lei Luo left, both Shardin and Sharbao hurriedly went into the sea to remove their shields.

When their bodies came into contact with the seawater, a comfortable smile appeared on their faces. After lying down for a while, they lazily found a reef near the island and lay down to rest.

"Sharbao, did you really mean what you said to that Poison Dragon today? Do you really think that way?"

Shardin looked at the sky and suddenly asked.

Sharbao was silent for a long time before he replied, "It's no longer meaningful whether I'm speaking from my heart or not."

"We are now subordinates of the Poison Dragon, but the other party hasn't accepted us yet. After speaking and betraying our race just now, we must make our race decline or we will face our deaths. Are you willing to sacrifice yourself for the race?"

"Forget it. The Merman Race won't have a chance of winning. That Poison Dragon's intelligence far exceeds ours. With the advantage of its race, how are we going to fight it?"

"Our betrayal might leave behind a seed of life for our race, so our race won't be exterminated."

Shardin recalled that after they left the race and came to this area, the search process was very fast and they did not encounter any obstacles.

However, when they encountered the island where the Poison Dragon was, they were immediately discovered and captured alive.

This not only reflected their carelessness, but also the Poison Dragon's meticulous thoughts. It was able to analyze their arrival and surround them from the normal school of fish. It had also made them leak most of the information about the Merman Race.

The Merman Race had no chance of winning, so if they were to betray their race now, could they leave behind a seed of life for their race in the future?

That was rice. Their betrayal was not for their sake, but for the sake of the race.

After a long silence, Shardin reminded himself of this.

He needed an excuse to accept the betrayal of his race, and Sharbao just happened to give him an excuse to strengthen his justification.
