Chapter 10 - Uncle, What's up?

Harlen watched as the little bat gradually flew out of his vision.

He then also began to eat his candied hawthorn as he surveyed his surroundings.

After all, in this unfamiliar place, it would be difficult for one to move an inch without familiarizing oneself with the environment.

Suddenly, Harlen turned back to Mary and asked about her memory.

"Oh yes, Mary."

"Did you remember anything?"

"Look around, do you feel anything familiar?"

Harlen pointed in various directions as he spoke.

As Mary ate her candy, she peeked around the various directions Harlen pointed.

After which, she replied calmly,

"There's no familiar feeling."

"I only remember that I'm from Saint Calloran, nothing else."

Mary looked back into Harlen's eyes. She was eating her candy with one hand while holding onto the stone bench with the other.

Perhaps it was because the block of stone they were sitting on was a little high.

When Mary sat on it, her feet were actually dangling several centimeters off the ground.

The two little legs swayed one after another like a swing.

Harlen stroked Mary's hair with his palm and said gently:

"Take your time."

Then, Mary and Harlen leisurely ate their candied hawthorns.

Under the shade of the tree, they sat there in a lazy and casual manner.

They spent their time like this, looking on the bustling streets, and taking in the lively atmosphere.

......

"Hello, little brother."

"Hello, little beauty."

After an unknown period of time.

Harlen and Mary, who had sat on a stone ledge till their butts were numb, moved deeper into the shade of the tree and sat on the grass, leaning against the tree trunk to rest.

Under the tree, Mary was fast asleep on Harlen's lap.

Harlen, on the other hand, had his head in his hands and was leaning against the big tree, resting with his eyes closed. However, he did not sleep.

The two people who were resting were suddenly awakened by these rough voices.

Harlen opened only half an eye to check the situation.

Then, he closed his eyes again.

"Waaahmmmm~"

Harlen yawned widely, then said:

"Uncles, what's the matter?"

The uncles looked at the lazy young man in front of them who talked with his eyes closed. They were both unhappy yet happy.

"Boy, don't close your eyes when you're talking to someone. It's rude."

The uncles looked like gentlemen of etiquette as they tried to lecture Harlen.

But Harlen ignored them.

The reason why Harlen closed his eyes and talked to the two elderly was not because he did not know his manners.

On the contrary, Harlen had been in the vampire castle for a year.

He learned all the vampire aristocratic etiquette from Queen Bella.

However, using such etiquette on ordinary occasions would appear to be overkill.

Moreover, when the uncles approached Harlen, he had already used his extraordinary nose to smell the thick scent of blood in the air around them.

The smell of blood was not the smell one got from killing fish or poultry.

It was the blood of humans, and of the beastmen.

Harlen hadn't paid much attention. After all, the people who had given off the scent hadn't come after him.

In the end…

These uncles that reeked of blood actually came forward to find trouble.

This put Harlen in a difficult position.

He originally just wanted a break.

But these people actually came here to find trouble and die.

There was no other way.

He could only enforce justice on behalf of the heavens and eliminate evil.

"Sorry, Uncle."

"We've gone a long way, brother and sister."

"We haven't eaten yet."

"I'm very tired now. I just want to rest."

"If Uncle wants to ask for directions or something, please find someone else."

As he spoke, Harlen adjusted his posture against the tree and continued to rest.

When the uncles heard this, they were overjoyed. They quickly rubbed their hands and bowed their heads.

"Aiya, you've worked hard, little brother."

"Speaking of which, you don't look like locals?"

"Are you from overseas?"

"Are you here for a holiday?"

"Judging by the way you're all dressed, you must be from a wealthy family."

"Why didn't you eat?"

"No servants?"

"Do you want to come to our shop first?"

"Our store isn't far. It's just up ahead."

"There's even free meat and cold drinks."

"Our store's also air conditioned, why not come in and relax with some food first."

"It's not good for you guys to rest outside either."

"Look at your sister, sleeping on the grass."

"There're lots of pebbles on the grass, sleeping here must be a chore."

"Our store also has…"

The uncle standing at the front said a lot.

But Harlen's heart did not waver.

Instead, he opened his eyes to check if Mary was still asleep.

Seeing that Mary was still sound asleep, Harlen closed his eyes again.

Then, he raised his tone and said in a stern voice.

"There's no need."

"Uncles, please return."

Seeing this, the uncles did not intend to back down. Instead, they became even more enthusiastic and started talking to Harlen again.

Harlen began to grow impatient.

I told you to leave, but you didn't.

I gave you guys a chance, yet you didn't want to take it.

You just had to court death.

Harlen began to release killing intent.

The killing intent seemed to leak out of him, and at the same time, the two men in front of him felt a chill.

"Hiss!"

"What happened?"

The few uncles standing at the back rubbed their hands as they shivered.

"Why did it suddenly turn so cold?"

The uncles standing began to tremble as they rubbed their hands.

.......

"Look at these people."

"It's such a warm day, yet these people are shivering like they're cold."

"What a waste of their size."

"They look imposing but are actually useless."

"Hehe."

The passers-by behind the uncle whispered to each other when they saw the uncle trembling.

Harlen opened half his eyes to check the situation, then said earnestly.

"Uncle."

"The few of you seem to have signs of Yin flourishing and Yang declining."

"You all need to bask in the sun more in the future."

"Don't keep hiding in your room."

"Bathe in the sunlight and drive away the yin and accept yang to strengthen your body."

The uncles seemed to be experienced.

As though he could hear the hidden meaning in Harlen's words, he said earnestly,

"Little brother."

"Us brothers have always loved sunbathing."

"Look at our strong physiques and firm muscles."

The uncle standing at the front resisted the cold caused by Harlen's murderous intent, lifting up his shirt to show his defined muscles.

However, in the end, he still couldn't endure the coldness caused by the killing intent.

He quickly picked up the clothes on the floor and put them back on.

"Little brother, I see that you are also a man of the world. We should have many topics to talk about."

"Let's go to my shop to discuss more."

As he spoke, the uncle standing at the front signaled the uncles behind him to prepare to attack.

They were ready to forcibly drag Harlen to the shop.
