Keya P.O.V
We headed home to put up our stuff. Also, we packed our things for the party tonight. And church with his family in the morning. Kane calls to me while loading up the car. "My Keya?" I look over the car into his bluish-gray orbs. "Yeah?" "Where on the south side does your Fathers' family live?" He inquires. I frowned at him, curious and a little worried.
"The West Pullman hood. Near 63rd & Western. Why?" He gives me a stern: 'You already know why' face. Ugh, damn! "Can we visit them some other time, Papi? Jeez, we're gonna be late for that party thing!" It's not that I don't want to see my family. It's just, I like to plan these things ahead of time. To call before I come over. To even know if people are home or busy. I hate it when someone comes over unannounced. And he's so freaking rash, impulsive!
"We won't be late! It doesn't start till 7 p.m. It's barely 2 p.m. Give me their address, now!" He demands. I do, begrudgingly. When he pulls up in front of their place. "What are we really doing here?" I groan, agitated. I'm exhausted from having to deal with them all morning at the Spa. I truly don't think I have the mental capacity to do it twice on the same day. Manny sighs, "I just feel like I need to introduce myself to them too, Mami. That's all. Then we'll be on our way. Trust me, okay?" I sigh, exasperated. I nod, rolling my eyes. But explain, "I agree. But I don't want y'all changing into... anything, okay? Or only do it if they ask you to. Cool?" He glances at me thoughtfully for a moment. Smirks and nods. I sigh in slight relief. Praying he'll keep his word.
We go up to the front door. I knock and hear a faint, "Come in!" Before I could take a step. He bends down and scoops me up, smirking. Oh God. I know arguing with him will be a waste. So I don't. He walks us in. But no one was in the living room. So I point towards the back. He pauses and I hear Kane through the mindlink. 'I sense their wolves. They are from a Special Wolven Alpha bloodline.' I'm shocked. 'Damn, really?!'
He nods and walks us to the kitchen. Where they are sitting at the table, prepping a meal. They love cooking as much as I do. My Dad's mother, Fannie Mae Woody. I just call her Granny. She's here with her oldest daughter, Suzette, and youngest daughter, Cherry.
Although I don't see my dad's family that often. I do love them very much. Though they used to creep me out a bit when I was younger. Like, they were always watching me and sniffing me. Almost as if they were looking for something to happen. Now that I think about it. It could be because I'm a Werewolf. And they knew it. But they weren't sure if I knew it. Well, I know now!
They are also from the South. Birmingham, Alabama, to be exact. But Granny Fannie moved from there in her younger years. And lived in Los Angeles, California with her husband. That's where my Father was born. Before they finally settled down here in Chicago.
They are from an endless line of dark-skinned Native Americans. The Creek Tribe! My mom's family are all mixed up. They are part of the light-skinned Choctaw Tribe, also Irish and African.
Seeing us walk in. They all looked up, stunned. I see them sniff the air deeply. They gasp, their eyes go wide with shock. They gaze bewildered at each other. My heart is beating so fast right now. I know I have to tell them about us now. But a part of me sort of feels like they have a clue as to why we are here. By how they're looking at us right now. I greet them shyly, smiling nervously. I wave. "Hey, y'all.."
Fannie Mae P.O.V.
Mother Selene Ishtar recently talked to me and my wolf, Asha. She told us that the time was close for us to be in power again. This is great news! Because a curse was put upon our family a long time ago. The Curse was put in place because of our Alpha's abuse of power.
Banning us from shifting and 'Splitting'. 'Splitting' is how we shift. Sometimes when we shift into our wolves, we literally become two individual beings. Ourselves and our wolves separate from one another. But we are still connected in Mind, Heart & Spirit. As far as I know, we are the only Tribe that can do this. The Creek Tribe. We are also one of the first and oldest Wolven Bloodlines created.
Although we are born werewolves. And still maintain our enhanced health, strength, heightened abilities, and long life. We are not able to shift into our wolves anymore. Because of the curse.
After we come of age at 16. Our wolves awaken and we can communicate with them. We would get them at birth if we were living among our Pack. But we aren't living in our Pack. I have no idea when that'll happen again. So, now we don't tell our children about their true selves until they come of age. That's just the way it is. My parents told me on my 16th birthday. Their parents told them on their 16th, and so on and so forth. Keya is nearly there, and her younger brother has 10 more years. My youngest son, Murl, is their father. But he's in prison. So he won't be able to inform Keya of her heritage. And it falls to me. Everything always falls to me.
"Come in." I yelled at someone knocking at the door. I hear a content male grunt. And a small exhausted female groan. Right before my front door opened. The second they step in. I knew it was my favorite grandchild. But something's different. I sense her wolves' presence! Immediately, I mindlinked my daughters. 'Her wolf has awakened!' 'What?! How?' 'Isn't it too early?' They ask, shocked. Then sniff the air deeply. As Keya enters the kitchen. And she's in the arms of an Alpha! I know for a fact that he's an Alpha from his powerful Aura. We all shudder under it. Keya looks so tiny and nervous in his arms. "Hey, y'all.."
She looks so different. More mature and feminine. She usually dresses in a loose T-shirt and baggy shorts. But now, she looks like a young lady. Who is this man, and what has he done to my granddaughter? "Hey niece, how are you?" Cherry asks slowly. Suspiciously looking between them. "I'm okay." Keya mumbles.
She seemed even more nervous as he jutted his chin out towards us while looking at her like, 'Well are you gonna introduce me or what?' I could've sworn they were mindlinking. She looks reluctant until he caresses her ass! She trembles and gasps. Then shyly stutters, "This is my Granny, Fannie Mae, and her two daughters. My aunts Suzette and Cherry. Y'all, this is my... Papi." He nods, his eyes roaming over us appreciatively as she speaks.
"Hello. I'm Manny. Nice to meet you." He greets us kindly. She lets out a short relieved breath. He smirks, tapping her ass softly twice. As if saying, 'Good Girl.' Oh Goddess, isn't he dominant!? But could they be the Alpha Couple that will break our Curse?
