Malad was fascinated by the Eiffel Tower standing tall in front of her like a giant mesh of metal. She thought of all the times she had seen its pictures or come across parts of it in the movies. Nothjng really captured the magnificence of this historic monument. How it made her, and her problems, feel small.
Amdo was extremely nervous. His laptop connected to the zoom call that would start any minute now. He went through the answers to all the questions he had prepared for the interview while panicking about the unknown qiestions they might ask. But he took a deep breath. 'All you need to do is show them how passionate you are about physics.' He told himself. 'Are you passionate about physics? Of course you are. You have a Masters degree in physics! Now, just let that passion show.'
When he closed his eyes and opened them again, there was a confident smile on his face, which wss returned by the cheerful glint in the eyes of his interviewer.
Malad was in the snfc, hand clutching her head. A schoolgirl sat in front of her, noticing her from her work every 5-10 minutes. Finally, she decided to talk. "Are you alright?" she asked.
"It's nothing, just a headache." Malad replied. "Travel sickness." she added out of habit. But as soon as the words left her mouth, she regretted them.
"Aw, it's ok." the girl said. "I've had it too for a long time now. You know, noise cancellation earphones help a lot. They make the vibrations fainter and lighten the load on your brain. Headaches might still come, but they will be milder and slower. A good night's sleep also does wonders."
"Oh really?" Malad said, clearly impressed by the wise words from the little girl. "Thank you so much for your advice. You don't know how much I needed it."
"Oh, trust me, I do." The girl replied before returning back to her work.
Amdo screamed with joy on the inside as soon as the interviewer asked when he could join but kept his well practised stern demeanour on the outside. After all, just because he was asking about his availability didn't mean he had the job. "As soon as I possibly can," he replied with an encouraging smile, which faded when he thought he might be coming off as too eager or unemployed. "That's great." said the interviewer, "we will contact you as soon as possible then."
