Chapter 2 - A Date?

"Well, we still have a quarter of an hour left..." said Amdo with a mischievous grin. They were out in the long corridor a few doors away from their meeting room. It was dimly lit by the sunlight which peeped through the curtains of the dark clouds from time to time. "Yes, of course." she answered, "and that means-"

"We can hit the free canteen!" they both joyously exclaimed together with their eyes narrowing into a cheeky smile which turned to a burst of laughter as they both recognised their unison.

They ran hand in hand through the slim corridors and up the staircase into more familiar corridors; finally arriving at the canteen. It was filled with delicacies around the world. From main course of vegetarian and beef lasagnes to Indian sweets for dessert, everything was well chosen, everything looked amazing and smelled amazing and, what's more, everything was free!

They stuffed their mouths with as much food as they could gather like a pair of birds. and that is when they entered. The company people from the meeting. "If it isn't Miss Malad and Mr Amdo again, gate-crashing our canteen..." taunted the CEO.

"DOCTOR", Amdo corrected again, "and besides, we have free passes until fifteen minutes."

"And that is because of you abruptly ending the meeting..." he tried to reason, "so, security, would you mind evacuating these cheap people from our building please?"

Amdo and Malad ran as if on cue. They would not stand the humiliation of being pushed out from such a place by security. But of course, they grabbed some of the delicious Indian sweets on their way out. You never leave Indian sweets behind.

Waltzing around the security guard on the door, Amdo finally managed to edge through a hole in the human barrier, making enough space for him and Malad to escape. They ran through the corridors and staircases, which were blocked by confused security guards as they whizzed through them. They finally saw an exit. But it was guarded by, what looked like hundreds of guards and more joined. They carried them both by the shoulders but it felt more like a swing than the boring grips of security guards. As they left them outside the door, Malad and Amdo exchanged looks. Their eyes were wide with a frown creasing their foreheads but the hint of a smile was smeared across their faces nonetheless.

"That was quite an adventure..." Malad commented.

"Well, you get used to adventures when you are around me." Amdo replied with a boastful smile.

"You kind of say that with your dirty clothes and huge rucksack which looks like it has seen more countries than all of my family combined." She deprecated his boasts with a sympathetic pat on his shoulder.

"Well, I do go travelling around the world and in fact," he said, "I'm leaving next week for another expedition."

He noticed her shoulders slumped and a grim look hovered over her face, so he carried on, "but before that, you could go out on a date with me." His words raced each other to his tongue, becoming so fast by the end that it was barely comprehensible what he said.

The light returned to the extinguished brown eyes and a hint of rosy red encircled her cheeks. A slight tip of her chin nodded "Yes" which was backed by the faintly audible sound of the actual words.

"Yes?" he confirmed and almost started to dance before he checked himself with the huge crowd around him that he could accidentally hit. "Really? Wow!" he whispered, purposefully lowering his voice to keep himself from shouting. "Okay, so Nando's tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.?"

She nodded.
