On the dark gloomy bridge a palanquin was passing by, it was surrounded by brute men carrying sword, their clothes were as of rufians, as the wind passed through them it carried a soft weeping sound which was coming inside the same palanquin,while some would find it sorrowful. It was conveniently ignored by those men.
An old woman was behind the procession, her face looked like she was going to get executed, every few seconds she would beat her chest and cry " my lady, how can this happen to you. You have never even hurt any insect in your life but why would lord Buddha give you this punishment, my lady is just fourteen,she has not even had her hair pin ceremony yet".
While all this was happening a transparent figure was sitting over an old oak tree near the same bridge, though the figure was transparent if it had a face a look of derision would be seen "it's been near to one year since I started living on this suicide bridge. It was daily occurance for people to come and jump over this structure. Many even considered this place a place of bad omen, but it was also an only street of decadence for the rich and noble class. But for her it was perfect place to find her host".
There was a famous brothel that attracted customer from all forms of life, on one side this bridge told the story of misery and on the other it showed the story of sins.Both side was sinister in some ways that coincided with both ends.
That entity planned to ignore it this time too, she was searching for a perfect candidate for the spirit exchange and she knew that this choice will decide her future.
Just then a whispher echoed in her ears " I wish I could jump over this bridge and die". Su mi was looking around her but still she could see no one and that voice it spoke so near to her she could swear she felt hairs near her ears move.
She was silent and her movement became chaotic inside the palanquin making the rufian outside scold harshly " there is no need to move my lady, the place that you are destined to rot inside is in front of us and whatever you do, it will not change your fate". Their laughter was grating and Su Mi's grip on her skirt tightened " she hated this, but there was nothing on her hands, fate had given her harshest card to deal with.
Thus when she felt that whatever was inside the palanquin was getting impatient she said with resolution" yes, I want to die right now, but I have a younger brother and he is held captive somewhere. So, for him I can't die and if my suffering would let him have a life, I am willing. So, to answer your question, yes I want to die but I couldn't, what will you say".
Unknown entity started guffawing loudly, startling Su Mi as she realised despite the loud laughter the ruffians outside either didn't hear anything or they consider her actions inconsequential or some sort of madness. Looking at her confused face, that entity smiled and said " your voice will not be heard by them because I am speaking inside your mind and unknowingly you are replying the same way".
Su Mi was getting lots of shock today, but she was the daughter of late general Choi Yu Jin and he always said " losing your wit will be your first step in losing the war".
With quivering though calm voice she said " I have already said what I wanted to say, I am about to get sold in the brothel that you can see two li away from here, that is the place that I never thought I would step the foot my entire life, just tell me what I could do and I don't think you can do anything worse than what is already happening to me right now".
That entity slowly materialized in front of her, Su Mi gasped again, because in front of her the person looked exactly the same as her, the girl smiled " before our deal, let me explain what I am, I am a spirit, we are similar to you humans but with few differences,like you humans we are also born but in higher plane than that you live in, but only difference is that we don't have a body, we are transparent, in my world we started cultivating since young and on the age of fourteen we are sent here, we are unaware where we will be send and in one year time before we reach fifteen, we need voluntary human body to survive. In other words I will become you "Choi Su Mi". If you agree to the deal".
Su Mi was wide eyed " what will happen if you fail to find the human to move inside to". That person laughed but there was a hint of fear and sadness " we dissapear, I don't know where, but we can't go back to my world, you see to again go back we need to spend all the human person life that we have taken as host and if we fail to live our life complete as human with all your tribulations we cannot go back".
Looking at up and down she said " as for the deal with you, once you give me your body I will fullfill one of your wishes as a thank you and even if we lose our life we spirits always fullfil our promises,as for you I will takeover your body, live your life in that brothel and even take care of your brother like he is my own kin, in return you will leave this world forever to an unknown world that is afterlife. So, do you have strength to do so or are you willing to join the brothel?".
