"I-I don't have any idea on what to do.... what are you going to do now, I can just do that?" Halona courageously said with a shrug.
If she was going to live in the same house as Camry, she can as well learn to communicate with her properly. Communication is an important part of any relationship.
It is better to be involved in the things that Camry did than she doing her things separately. She wished for them to have fun together as best friends. She did not just want to share the house with Camry but she wanted to have a place in the heart of the lady.
Halona may be as playful and nonchalant as a child but she also could read people well. She could see the emptiness in Camry and all she wanted was to fill in the vacuum space. She was also not in a hurry to do this, she would take a step at a time to win Camry over.
She would bring a smile to Camry's face and give her all the attention that she deserves! She would never let Camry to lonely ever again. That was her vow.
Camry heard what Halona said raised a brow, what she was going to do? "Go, play". Camry said with a flick of her wrist. She thought about things she does but found none.
"I am not a child!" Halona cried.
"..." Camry paused, she threw a glance at Halona who pursed her lips and folded her arms across her chest. She looked wronged.
Halona noticed Camry's disapproving gaze on her and she dropped her head. The corners of her eyes glittered with tears that threatened to fall. She panicked that Camry did not want her and would do anything to push her away.
Things had always been that way with her, everyone for one reason or the other just push her aside not wanting anything to do with her. She did not want Camry to also treat her that way.
When she was younger, she had always wanted the attention of her parents. Yes, they loved her and showered her with material things, not once did she lack anything but she wanted more of their physical presence.
They were always here or there, running state matters, attending ceremonial functions and all. They never created time for her. She was homeschooled and had no friends, her assistants found it difficult to speak back to her. She practically lived in her world, aside from her nanny who spoke one or two words to her she was alone.
Go and play... Halona, mummy is busy... Baby, Daddy will visit you later... Princess, please it is wrong to talk with you... Go, play...
For umpteen times, she had been rejected but all those times, she never took the rejections to heart. She obediently listened and went ahead to do her things.
But, hearing Camry use the same words of rejection, she panicked. She felt unwanted, fear crept into her heart. She just wanted to be with Camry, is that too much of a wish? She needed a friend and Camry's world also feels so empty. She thought... thought they look good together?
Unknowingly, the two ladies stood in silence for a long while. Halona was lost in her thoughts and did not realize her tears had spilled and were leaving a trail across her face.
Camry saw this and pinched the space between her brows. She had never been this confused in her whole life. She had only spoken two words, was that enough to make one cry?
She became even more confused when she realized she had no idea what to do to make Halona stop crying. The scene made her feel as if she was a bully...
"You're so..so... tsk tsk" Camry heard a disapproving whisper in her head. The voice was at it again.
That voice only triggered Camry making her feel irritated. If only she could get rid of the voice... She doesn't even know the specifics of how the voice came about. She just had to live with it.
"How clueless" the voice intruded again. Camry's left brow twitched.
While Camry fought her own mental battle, Halona had broken into light audible sobs. Camry realized she had to stop Halona's tears first before she could be at peace.
After a while, Camry opened her mouth and said "Come here".
Immediately Camry's words reached Halona's ears, she snapped out of her depression. She raised her head and looked at Camry with a questioning gaze. She sniffed and bite her lower lip, hoping that she had not heard wrong and Camry did call for her.
"Come here" Camry repeated. Halona did not need to be told twice she wiped her tears and rushed to Camry's side. She stood obediently before Camry with her fingers clasped together in front of her nervously.
Camry walked to the reading table and carried the new laptop Halona used to replace her old one. She walked to the bedside with the laptop.
"Sit" she instructed. Halona quickly sat beside Camry. She did not know what Camry was going to do but for some reason, she believed it would be fun. With these thoughts, she became very enthusiastic.
Camry opened the laptop and started it. She took her phone and connected it to the laptop. Halona wrinkled her brows, she did not understand what Camry was up to.
"I already transferred all your data from your old laptop to this one. Don't worry, I- I kind of know a little about this kind of thing. I am sure I did a good job" Halona said. She thought Camry was trying to restore her data.
"Mm," Camry mumbled but did not stop typing sporadically. Halona pursed her lips, she shifted closer to Camry and peered into the laptop.
She realized Camry was working on an application, it looked like advanced programming to her, Halona had no idea.
A moment later, Camry stopped, an application was opened on the laptop. She stared at the unknown application with a confused gaze.
What was she supposed to do...? "Er? What should I do now?" She let out her confusion.
"A game," Camry said in a monotone.
"Oh..." so it is a game, Halona thought understandably. She was not a lover of games but this was Camry's idea, her interest was piqued.
She saw that Camry was not saying anything, probable, she was giving her a chance to play the game. She shrugged and her hand hovered on the mouse. How to do this...
The game was the kind that Halona had not seen before, it includes weird characters holding weapons. The arena of the game looked like a battlefield. She did not even identify her character yet.
She moved her hand to the south and the leading character whose weapon was small black silk turned. As the character turned, her hand moved.
"Whoosh!" The black silk was waved into the air and it made a piercing sound filled with killing intent.
"Wow... this is so cool!" Halona clapped in excitement. She returned her attention to the game, she realized that all the other characters had moved. The battleground was now filled with bloodshed.
Her character stood rooted on spot, she did not know where to turn to next. She did not know if she was to join in the fight and even if she did, how was she going to fight?
Halona stole a glance at Camry, the latter's eyes were fixed on the screen. She watched keenly the movements of the characters on the battlefield. It was as though she was unraveling the game in her head. Camry's eyes fell on the stagnant Character and removed her eyes from the screen. She looked at Halona with a questioning raised brow.
"Ahem..." Halona cleared her throat. She moved the mouse...
"WHAT!" She yelled. She stared at her dead character and wanted to cry. She only made one move into the battlefield and was already killed. She was so annoyed at the capitalized 'GAME OVER'. How did she lose so easily?
She looked at Camry hoping that she would pity her but the latter face was cold and expressionless. It was as if Halona's loss was expected.
"Play again" Camry instructed.
"But, I don't know how to play the game!" Halona shrugged.
"Again" Camry repeated. There was no room for disagreement.
"O-okay" Halona surrendered. She began the game again but the moment she moved her character, she was killed viciously. It happened the first time, the second, the fourth... till she lost count.
"Argh!" She yelled. So annoying! She kept on trying because she wanted to please Camry but she lost every single time she moved. She could not even attack a single opponent, no, she was not even able to make more than two moves!
"Too slow" Camry suddenly said. Halona heard this and blinked. She was slow?
Before she knew it, Camry took the laptop from her, she clicked start, and the game began. Halona's full attention was on the game.
However, everything was blurry as Camry's character moved as fast as a meteor. All she could see was a sharp flash left by the black silk each time she defeated another character. Compared to the characters with bigger and scarier weapons, Camry's character's black silk was more vicious.
"YOU WON!" A robotic voice announced from the system. A harsh breeze blew Camry's character as it used its black silk to make symbolic sharp markings in the air, it was her symbol of winning.
"Wow... so cool" Halona cupped her face and fawned on the amazing character.
"Cam... Cam... Teach me! I have never seen a game this cool. This is fun!" Halona squealed.
"Okay" Camry answered. She pushed the laptop back into Halona's hands and said, "Play".
Halona was stunned, she clearly said "Teach me!" She did not say she wanted to play yet! After seeing Camry's heroic win, how could she bear to play again.
She cried in her heart and she moved her to play again...
"GAME OVER!"
