The dream I had about the divorce wasn't actually about mine…but my parents'. After almost 40 years of marriage, I've watched them sign the separation agreement. I wasn't happy and given no reason, but my father told me that he wanted her to be happy. It made me insecure in my own marriage.
"The court case is over, your parents are selling the house."
"I think I want to buy it…" I replied, the thought of losing the family home tightening my chest.
"I agree with you," Owais said, his voice steady and reassuring.
"I just…I deserve an explanation," I said, my voice cracking.
"You and your sister are both married adults, there's no need for them to explain. They've done their part," Omar said, holding onto my shoulders. "And you don't have to buy the house. Your father gave you this one, and the other to your sister."
