Gosh, my head hurts. This pillow feels good against my skin, I think to myself. It's so comfy and big.
"Would you stop moving around?"
Wait! I know that voice. My eyes snap open only to find the bluest eyes I've ever seen looking back at me. In that moment it felt like time had stopped. It felt like everything had slowed down and I couldn't find my breath. Losing myself in those eyes.
"I know I'm breath taking princess," he says as my eyes move down to his lips "but staring is rude"
Why am I in his bed. Even better, why am I in his arms? What in the hell happened? But look at those lips, so pink and plump.
"You fainted princess"
The fact that I'm in bed with a sexy hunk of a man as well as the man who tried to kill me earlier finally hits me and I scramble out of bed. In my attempt to escape the sexy man, I end up falling down on the side on the bed. Landing on the floor all tangled up in his sheets, his watermelon and nature-like scent engulfing me, when a sharp pain erupts throughout my back.
"Aaaarrgghh, fuck!"
I feel a presence beside me before I'm lifted back onto the bed. What happened to my back?
"I kind of pushed you too hard yesterday," he says with an apologetic smile.
I haven't said a single thing yet he's been answering every single question. Oh my gosh! Can he read minds? Because if he can then I'm fucked.
"No princess, you've been thinking out loud"
"Really? That's not like me" I say while getting off of the bed again "Can you get back into bed? Your back is messed up" he pleads as runs his hands through his hair in frustration.
"Wait, you said yesterday," I mumble to myself knowing he can still hear me.
"What?"
"How long have I been out for?" I say as worry begins to fill me
"A day, why?"
Shit. I'm so dead. Suddenly the reason why I fainted hits me with full force and I dash to the door making my way to the front door which is now open.
"Wait!" he calls after me as I yank the front door open and follow the trail like I should have the other day. What in the hell was I thinking making conversation with a monster?
"Damn it princess, stop!" he yells as I pick up my pace into a sprint. I hear the ripping of clothes and my fear only increases as I realize that he's now shifted into his wolf. My mind instantly goes back to the memories of how big his wolf looked last time. I can't out run a fully grown wolf.
My sprint turns into a run and I push myself to go faster as I see the border line to the pack come into view. By now I can feel his teeth nipping at my heels and my fear only grows.
"I've got this" says Snow and I feel her give me a little bit of power to run faster. The guards on the border line instantly recognize me and start sprinting towards me.
"Samantha? What are you doing outside the territory" says one of the guards with furrowed eyebrows.
"We need to go, now!" I semi-yell and semi- whisper to the guard that is looking at me like I'm crazy.
"Samantha, what are you talking about," he says while sending me a weary look "And why exactly where you running like your life depended on it?"
"You're kidding right?"
I spin around to point at the wolf who is chasing me only to find nothing. My eyebrows knit together in confusion.
"He was just here" I say scanning the area "I swear"
Looking up at the guard I notice he is giving me a look of pity. Does he think I'm crazy?
"The guy that lives just outside the pack kidnapped me and chased me all the way back here" I explained "I'm so sorry that I was away all night but-"
"Samantha, there's no one living outside the pack" he says worriedly "And you only walked past here about 30 minutes ago"
"What do you mean? I was just at the house and I've been there all night"
"House? There's no house in the woods Sam" he says.
My mind swirled as I tried to reason with myself and my thoughts. I was there wasn't I?
"Miss are you alright?" he asked
Ignoring the guard, I started to make my way back to the house. How could I have been gone for only 30 minutes? I mean the wolf, the house and berries…Did I seriously hallucinate all of that? Reaching back and touching my back, my hand comes in contact with the bruise he gave me.
Wait! The bruise! This proves that what happened was real right. Lost in my thoughts I didn't even realize that I had already reached the house and sitting on the steps was Daniel.
"Ooouu, you called him by this full name" snickered Snow
"Yes, that's because I'm still mad at him"
Reaching the steps, instead of stopping I continue into the house.
"Sam!" he called
Ignoring him, I turn the nob and open the door quickly shutting it behind me and then making a bee-line for my bedroom. Before I can start up the steps I see my mother standing in the doorway to the kitchen giving me that look.
You know the one where your mum puts one hand on her hip and then shakes her head at you? Yeah, that one.
"So your planning on eating those berries or you're going to hand them over to me so that I can take them and make those pies?" she says with a grin
"Wha-?" looking down I realize the basket of berries is in my hand. Was it there the whole time? I don't remember picking the up the basket when I was escaping, so how is it here now?
"Hand over the berries Sam" she says with her hand held out to me.
"Oh yeah" shaking my head from my thoughts I hand her the basket "here"
"I'm actually surprised you were quick" she says as she disappears into the kitchen.
I make my way up the stairs to recollect myself.
Knock, knock
"Sam can you get the door? I'm working on mashing the berries" he shouts from the kitchen
Ugh
Making my way back down the stairs, I walk to the front door and an unfamiliar scent hits my nose.
"That's odd" I mumble to myself "I know everyone's scent in this pack" "Sam, I'm getting an uneasy feeling" Snow says while tucking her tail between her legs
Suddenly I feel someone trying to mind link me. That's odd, I never block my mind links. I must have done it unknowingly.
"Attention all pack members, there's been a breach at the west side of the boarders. There's someone on our territory. Everyone must return home and lock their doors until our unexpected visitor is found" I hear the Alpha command
I become really nervous as I realize that the so called 'unexpected visitor' is the one on my doorstep. What could he possibly want? Who is he?
"Sam, who is at th-"
I quickly shush my mum and hold my fingers to my lips. She immediately stops talking when she sees the scarred look on my face. I point to my head trying to indicate that she should mind link me instead.
"What's going on?" she asks
"There is a stranger at our door step, the one the alpha just warned us about"
A small gasp escapes her lips as the unfamiliar finally hits her nose.
Knock, knock, knock
This time the knock was louder and faster. Almost urgent.
"Why are the both of yo-" me and my mum quickly turn around and shush my brother as he looks at us in confusion.
"Keep quiet you dweeb" I mind link him
"You're the bigger dweeb" he says back
"That's what dweebs say"
My mum raises her eyebrow at me and turns back to the door.
"We have other problems at hand, I want you both to go to the trapped door we have under the dining table and stay there until its safe" she says while removing her shoes
"What about you?" I don't want to leave her here
"I'll be fine, now take off your shoes and walk softly to the dining room" Taking off our shoes me and my brother slowly make our way to the kitchen. Unfortunately, on our last step the floor creaked.
Bang, bang, bang
Suddenly the door flies open.
"Come on Sam we need to go" whispers my brother
Ignoring him I let my curiosity get the best of me and I carefully peak around to corner to the door.
What I saw had me shocked and the air knocked out of my lungs.
