Without hesitation Ryley answered, "Of course I will. Penniless or not, I still want to be with you."
"And if a deadly disease had my life hanging on a thread, will you stay by my side to the end of my breath?"
The blond had no idea where all these strange questions came from, but what's clear was the last one broke his heart that his palms went up to cup the man's chiseled face, as if his biggest fear had just been revealed.
"No!" He gasped, his voice faltered with a trace of sorrow filling his eyes. "I can endure anything but watch you breathe your last..."
A faint smile welcomed his answer, followed by the man's lips on his palm, kissing and inhaling his scent that never failed to soothe the fire in his lover's heart.
