"But mom, me spaghetti—"
Andrew protested when he hadn't finished his meals, but seeing the tension on Adrian's face, Hugo hurriedly shielded the boy and persuaded him.
"Let's go clean up and get some popsicles." He whispered then lifted Andrew from his booster seat without waiting for a reply.
Seeing that Hugo was heading towards the exit, Ezra slammed down his wine glass on the table hard and jolted from his seat.
"Did my late brother never teach you manners?!" His thundering voice sliced through the cold atmosphere, then he scoffed with a contemptuous look.
"Running away like a coward... No wonder he had to pay bitterly for raising a scum!"
Adrian jerked from his seat and almost knocked the chair upon hearing the insult. It wasn't exactly directed at him, but Ezra really got into his nerve this time.
"What did you just say?!" He grunted, feeling his veins about to bust. "Watch your words!"
