The distinct smell of wet soil slipped through the partly opened window, and when his blurry gaze finally opened, his sight was welcomed by tree leaves glowing under the morning rays.
It had been a long time since he woke up to such scenery, the last time was when he was 'kidnapped' in a hidden mansion at the depth of Rock Springs forest.
All his apartment could offer was the bustling city of New York and its skyscrapers. But now that he had been named the owner of a tropical mansion in Shelter Bay... Ryley felt maybe it wasn't too bad to let himself be pampered sometimes.
This familiar atmosphere was indeed.... better.
Perhaps since he kind of missed such a rare moment, Ryley forgot a burly tanned arm still circled his waist protectively from behind, and the steady breath behind his nape added to the tranquil air in that peaceful morning.
