Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: Blooming of the New side

Soekjin's POV

After work was over, I was walking from the bus stop towards home. That's when I noticed an incredibly conspicuous scene before me. A young man was kicking his sports car in the most aggressive manner ever. It's not every day one sees a Lamborghini in these streets, but to think I could see someone kicking it. What a rare day it was. More than feeling pity for the yelling man, I felt for the poor car that was being hit and approached the man cautiously.

"Umm... Excuse me, do you need help?" I asked in the most polite manner possible. The young man jolted his head towards me, as if he was going to snap at me. However, before he could do that, we both noticed each other's faces. It was Yoongi. 'Seriously, what a day today was.' I internally face palmed.

As if seeing my face calmed him down, Yoongi stopped shouting. "Uhh... my car broke down and I am not able to find the problem in it, either." Yoongi sheepishly spoke, scratching his neck.

"Well, did you try calling a mechanic or looking for one nearby?"

"Uhh... it never came to mind."

'Wait, was he always this dumb? Or maybe, he had a hard day or something. After all, he was shouting this and that about some "old bastards" and what not.' I guessed for myself.

"If you don't mind, I can help you call a mechanic, and until then you can come over to my place to wait." I couldn't possibly leave a person in need be so I suggested.

"That would be a really huge help then. If you can, I wouldn't mind." As Yoongi replied to me, his expression seemed unreadable, but I had a feeling he felt awkward.

It would not be weird for him to feel that way, since we barely ever talked, and when we did, there always seemed to be a wall between the both of us, one that made us feel slightly uncomfortable with being at ease with each other. There seemed to be a long and awkward pause after every sentence we spoke to each other.

"How do I manage to break the ice even..." I thought as I idiotically moved around the car while calling for the mechanic, as if inspecting its problem.

It must be that he noticed we weren't progressing with anything at all, Yoongi walked past me to the front, slightly turning his head back to request, "Lead the way?"

I hesitated to follow since the mechanic had yet to arrive, but coincidentally a tow car stopped near the Lamborghini and a middle aged man hurriedly walked out of it. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Sirs. Let me quickly get my things."

After 10 minutes of checking the car for the main issue, the mechanic detected the problem and informed us that it would take a few hours to fix. Once the mechanic left with the car, Yoongi and I crossed the road in order to walk Yoongi to my house.

"Um... so how was your day?" I tried breaking the ice between us. He looked at me with a weird face. Was he annoyed or was he amused? But whatever it was, he probably did not want me to talk.

"Mm. It was okay." I was pretty sure he was cursing like a drunk old man a moment ago, but I guess I'm supposed to overlook that.

"How was yours? He asked me. 'Well, what a surprise we have here, he does initiate conversations after all,' I thought to myself.

"It was actually pretty good today. Better than most days. I did get called out on a day-off at work today, but since Boss promised a bonus, it feels like my hardwork is going to pay off. But I am not really sure if he-" I was mindlessly rambling when I felt a stare on me. 'Shit, I totally forgot he doesn't like me talking too much.'

"Ohh! Uh, s-sorry... I spoke too much..." I apologized stuttering like a fool, in case he got offended.

"Haha! It's actually pleasant to listen to." I stumbled hearing him. He had chuckled softly, his gummy smile visible for a minute second, and said such words. This was truly so rare, maybe this wasn't Yoongi at all or maybe this was the real Min Yoongi behind the cold mask!

He must have realised what he said might make me misunderstand his words, he stopped laughing and fumbled along his words, "Uh, no, I- I meant hearing about others' routines is new to me."

"Right... Oh, look we're here already!" Thank God for my legs to finally reach home so quickly! "Come on in and make yourself home." Even though it was awkward, I was determined to make him even a little comfortable with me by the end of this encounter.

Switching on the lights, I turned around to ask, "Would you like some tea? Or maybe coffee? I think I have instan-" I noticed his cheek had a cut once he raised his head better. "What happened to your face?! You should quickly sit down. It must've been the street lights that hadn't let me see better. Gosh! What am I talking for?? I"ll bring first aid, first." As I was panicking, he lazily walked behind me to sit on the sofa and said, "It's okay. It will heal on its own."

"Well, it must be hurting besides you need to still clean the wounds." I replied, approaching him with the kit.

"It doesn't hurt either." Him saying that annoyed me a little so I bent closer to his face and pressed near the cut with a alcohol swab. He hissed at the contact and looked at me with a frown. I only shrugged my shoulders and continued disnfecting the wound. The cut wasn't too deep, but the blood was still slightly flowing. I cleaned up the blood that had dried up around the wound while I was at it. However, another contact of ointment with the cut made Yoongi scrunch his nose in pain. He raised his hand, probably to stop mine from moving, only to make me notice the blisters on his knuckles.

"Mr. Min Yoongi, what exactly do you do on your day off? Were you fighting with someone? How could one be in such a state?" I was genuinely worried to see someone injured like this, and if that someone was a person as quiet and solemn as Yoongi it was a whole new story to think off. He held my wrist that was still applying ointment, looking right into my eyes, "You shouldn't worry so much."

For some reason, I was not able to avoid making eye contact. I stared into his hazel orbs. They seemed to be lit by the sunlight. In them, I was easily able to see myself. How would it be like if it was always like this.

'Wait. What am I even thinking. Have I gone crazy?!' Flushed at my own thoughts, I swiftly turned my head away, 'I hope he didn't see me being like that.' Yoongi cleared his throat softly before releasing my wrist, which just gave me the opportunity to rummage the kit for a band-aid.

After helping him with his injuries, I quickly walked over to the kitchen. Not bothering to ask what he would like again, I began whipping up some black coffee mindlessly. I absolutely did not want to be in the same space as him again, least my head bursts because of all the blood that would flow up.

After about five minutes of whipping the life out of the coffee, I walked out the kitchen to see Yoongi on the phone. I placed the coffee on the table and waited for his business to settle.

"Yeah, no Im fine... No... I will in an hour or two... Yeah okay... No... okay" he answered boredly to the other person in the phone before turning his face to my direction. "I'll call later, Kookie. Bye!" He hung up without even hearing the answer of the poor Kookie on his phone.

He walked towards the table and sat down on the other side of the sofa picking up his mug of coffee. "It was Jungkook, and thankyou! I really needed some right now" he smiled slightly and I could swear my heart skipped a beat at how beautiful he looked. Not being able to form a proper sentence I simply nodded and flashed one of my own smiles towards him. He looked at my face for a few extra seconds before going back to concentrating on his coffee.

To avoid the awkward situation that was between us I could only think of one thing that would clear the thick air. "Um... do you want to um.. maybe watch something?" I suggested not quite sure if he would like the idea.

"Huh me? Yeah... Yeah sure!" I thanked heavens for letting his answer be postive because my mind would have not been able to think of anything else. Getting up from the sofa, I fetched some of of the movies I had and handed them to him. He looked up confused and if it wasn't for how awkward it was between us, I would have pinched his cheeks because he looked absolutely adorable.

"You choose!" I said and waited for him to pick his choice from the bundle. He looked through the pile and handed over the series of Harry Potter. I was not expecting it, to be very honest. I was expecting more of an action movie from him but hey, who's complaining! Amused at his pick, I walked over to the TV and placed the CD in. Walking into the kitchen I grabbed some of the snacks that I had bought a few days back and placed them on the table gesturing him to help himself. He hesitantly picked a bag of chips from the table and sat down comfortably waiting for the movie to start as his eyes were fixed on the screen. From what I could see, at the moment he looked like a little kid eagerly waiting for his favourite cartoon to start.

Half an hour into the movie, I turned my head around to see a peacefully sleeping Yoongi with the bag of chips still in hand. He must have been really tired. I stared at his sleeping figure, noticing how calm he looked while sleeping, like there were no worries in life. "If only I could be like him" I sighed to myself Realizing I had been staring at him for far too long, I got up from my place, switched of the television and helped Yoongi comfortably lie down on the sofa, so that the kid does not have a sore neck when he wakes up.

Just as I lied him down completely, placing one of the cushions under his head, he got hold of my hand, tightly hugging on it for dear life. Startled by his action, I froze in place, not being able to think straight. Yoongi looked like a little kid sleeping, nothing close to the intimidating boy that gave off cold vibes. Lying down here, he looked like the calmest person on earth, peaceful and beautiful. Not being able to notice before, I saw how amazing his features were. From his cat like eyes to his pink soft lips everything about him was mesmerizing. Once again, realization hit me as I got back to my senses and lightly pulled my hand out of his grip.

"When did it get so hot in here!" I walked to my room, pulling out an extra cover from the closet and came back again to the boy sleeping in my lounge. Covering him with the blanket, I cleared the mess on the table and sat down across from him on the chair in order to not disturb his sleep.

What an unexpected day. It was funny how Yoongi and me barely talked to each other in the past and now the same boy was lying on my couch like he partly owned this place. Chuckling at my thoughts, I didn't notice Yoongi had already been awake from his slumber.

"Ah?" Looking around like a lost kitty, Yoongi sure must have been confused about the unfamiliar surroundings.

"Morning!" I said a little loudly, startling the boy who smiled sheepishly towards me, scratching the back of his neck.

"I'm sorry... Uh.. I didn't know I would... I just was a little...um... tired... yeah... I was tired" he mumbled probably embarassed but to me it just looked cute as he struggled to form a proper sentence. Letting out a small smile I walked over to where he was now sitting and sat down beside him. Grabbing the blanket to fold it neatly, I saw Yoongi looking my way from the corner of my eye.

"It's okay, nothing to be embarassed about. You looked really worn out in the first place so, its fair to catch up on some sleep. To be honest you looked really calm so I couldn't bring myself to wake you up and besides why would I eve-" I stopped mid sentence, realizing I was talking too much and looked down, fiddling with my fingers.

Suddenly, the man beside me laughed lightly, making me lift me head and look his direction. The deep breathy laugh that left his lips was beautiful and I had never heard such a voice. I looked at him, amusment clearly visible on my face as this was the second time the cold MIN YOONGI had laughed today and both the times it was when I had been rambling way too much.

He stopped laughing and shook his head "There's nothing to be embarassed about" he said with a hint of mischief in his voice. I knew he was mocking my words that I had said to him before. We both had our eyes locked with each other, neither one wanting to look away. Not being able to break the stare from his mesmerizing hazel eyes, I could feel my heart thumping in my chest. His eyes felt like they held a lot of emotions that I could barely put my finger on.

I got startled as his phone went off, resulting in us looking away from each other. Feeling too much heat building up, I walked up to the fridge and gulped down some cold water. Funny how whenever he is around the temperature seems to be controlled on its own. Sighing loudly, I took out ingredients in order to make us something to eat.

"May I help?" I was busy chopping onions when a deep voice startled me almost causing me to cut my fingers. I looked behind me to see Yoongi leaning on to the kitchen door with his hands in his pocket. Before I could reply, he walked towards the kitchen counter and grabbed one of the spare knives and started chopping the green chillies. I looked at how skillfully he chopped the other vegetables while I turned on the stove and started making the beef stir fry.

"Um so... you cook?" Feeling stupid at the obvious question I looked down at the scrumptious meat that was sizzling on the pan.

"Not really, I just know a few things here and there" he replied still concentrating on the carrots he was chopping. His skills were no joke. His hands moved fast and he handled his knife pretty well.

"What about you?" He questioned bringing me out of my daze. "I love cooking. I have been doing it since I was eleven and it is kind of a stress reliever for me"

"Just like math?" He asked, making me look at him confused. "Huh?" Not sure if I heard him right, I looked at him with a raised brow. He simply smiled and answered with a small "Nothing" and went back to placing the chopped vegetables on a plate.

With his help, cooking was easier and we were able to finish in about half an hour. Setting the table with the aromatic beef stir fry, some rice and my very own special homemade kimchi, we finally sat down to eat. Time spent during dinner was quiet. I noticed Yoongi eating too little compared to myself and said, "Yoongi-shi, have some more rice, and this kimchi too. I made it myself. I'm sure you'll like it!"

"Ah, it's alright." He looked up and for a while, kept staring at my face. Feeling a little conscious of his stare, I asked, "Uh? Is there something on my face?"

"Yeah, near your lips, a little to the left. No, no, the other side." He tried instructing me, but I was at a loss. The only thought that was revolving in my mind was, 'Was he staring at my lips?!?!' Giving up on telling me after just a few seconds, Yoongi picked out a tissue and moved closer to me.

'Oh no. This is not good. I can see where this is going.' Internally panicking, I was pretty much flailing at this point. Before I could respond or refuse his help, he had already closed our distance and wiped off the morsel of food that only he was able to see, "There. All done."

"Oh uh.. yeah... Thank yo-" As I was about to complete my sentence, my phone began ringing. 'Thank God for you, my dear phone, I might have not been able to relax if I did not get up from there after that moment. Gosh! My heart might just stop at this rate.'

I picked up my phone blankly to hear the voice of the mechanic on it. He informed that the car was fixed. Informing Yoongi, I offered to drop him to the car shop, however he refused and decided to leave by himself.

"Well, I will be leaving then. Thank you for helping me so much."

"Ah no, it was nothing. You are always welcome to come around or ask for help. I'm always around!" I smiled to him.

"Thanks and Goodbye! Hyung" He flashed a smile before walking out the door.

'Huh, did he just say Hyung?!' My heart was skipping beats like it was completely normal today, and it was all because of one person. Min Yoongi.
