Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4: Taragomi Festival

"WHAT? YOU LOST HER?"

The small room was filled with a loud and angry voice that can make anyone who hears it shivers.

"Y-Yes my lord. The S-Saintess knows our plan and escaped before we reach the Town of Cibil." Said the guy with a black cloak hiding his face.

"This is our last SHOT! The Saintess won't leave the temple no matter what the situation is and this is the first time she decided to leave the temple. ANSWER ME!... How can you ease my ANGER?!"

"I'm sorry my lord. We can't do any impulsive actions in that place because a lot of higher-ups are there celebrating the Taragomi Festival."

Answered by another man who also wore a black cloak, but he is calm than the first one.

In the darkroom, the sound of a woman's heels can be heard echoing, walking towards the angry man. A tall and gorgeous woman sits at the angry man's thighs and whispers to his ears.

"Calm down, hmm?... We can plan another way to kill that b*tch. There's no need to be angry, but I'm a little disappointed with you. Hmmm..."

"I'm sorry dear, next time I'm going to accomplish everything you wish." He looks at the two cloaked men and shouts.

"Get Out! And don't disappoint me again!"

When the two cloaked men exit the room. The quiet room was filled with noises of kissing and moaning.

***

When I reached the center of the town where I leave Carole and Noel dancing. I saw them sitting at the bench where I sat before, I think they're waiting for me. When I got near them, Carole spotted me and run towards me.

"Sam!... Where have you been? We've been looking for you so we decided to wait for you here."

You can see on Carole's face how worried she is. Carole is such a kind girl, even though we are not that close yet, but her concern is genuine.

"I'm sorry Carole, I never intended to make you worry. I'm just looking around and I didn't know that I've been wandering for too long."

It is not really my intention to wander too far, but because of the colorful lanterns and different stall that sells many kinds of things, my curiosity perks up that I end up to Bhavisha's tent. We walked to the bench where Noel sits, Carole sits beside Noel and I sit beside Carole.

"You're lucky Sam that the coachman is still not here. You might be scolded by him." Noel retorted while patting my head and smiles at me and I smiled back at him.

I know that we're the same age but Noel is treating me like a child or it is just his habit, always patting Carole's head.

"You know what Sam, I asked someone what kind of Festival they are celebrating and it's Tragomi Festival."

"Taragomi? What are they celebrating for?" Carole looks around before answering my question.

"They are celebrating the abundant harvest in the name of the goddess of crops, Taragomi. Look around, you can see a lot of fruits and vegetables plastered everywhere. A lot of rich people and merchants come here to buy because it's cheap."

From what I've read in the book, Cibil is a small town in the south that is known for having good quality products and is the main producer of fruits and vegetables. But it is expensive, so they only sell it cheap once a year when the Taragomi Festival is held.

Is that the reason why there are a lot of people here? I don't know if the coachman can look for an empty inn when there are a lot of people celebrating the festival.

Speaking of the coachman, he was walking towards us with a calm stature. I don't know if it is because of Bhavisha that I can feel mana but when I looked at the coachman, I know that he is not your typical coachman as I can feel mana around him.

When you look closely at him you can see how handsome he is. He has golden-brown hair, sapphire upturn eyes, and thin pink lips. Now I know the reason why the church only sends one person to guide us knowing the danger when traveling. There are a lot of possibilities that we might encounter like wild animals, demons, or bandits.

I unconsciously touched the ring in my left hand. I need to be extremely careful, so they won't know that I possess mana.

"I've found an inn to stay for tonight, but before that, we need to eat first. Follow me."

He turned around and we hurriedly followed him. Every church in Ashera provides a budget for the children in every orphanage under the protection of the Cathedral and our orphanage is one of them.

But our orphanage never spends the money on us, they only spend it on gambling sustaining their desires. I'm surprised that they give us 300 copper coins for us to spend freely at the academy, but it is not enough. 300 copper is only good for two weeks if you only spend it on foods three times a day in a small household.

The currencies in the Asherah are bronze, silver, and gold. 1,000 bronze is equivalent to 1 silver and 10,000 silver is equivalent to 1 gold.

The value of the currency defers to what kingdom you are in. I'm grateful that our church caters to our travel expenses like lodging and food until we arrived at the Vatican.

We entered a small pub, maybe this is where we're going to spend the night. The first floor is an eatery and there is one available table for us to eat at. The coachman gestured us to sit down and we obliged. The table has four chairs facing each other and I decided to sit across facing the window. The coachman ordered the food for us because we don't know what kind of food is written on the menu.

I was looking at the window where Carole sits. The street is still bustling with people even though it's late at night already. When the food arrived we can smell how delicious they are. I gulped my saliva, the aroma of the food is mouth-watering. I've never eaten something like this, the foods are foreign to us.

"Wow! It looks delicious!" Carole excitedly blurted.

When I look at Noel and Carole's eyes, it is glittering as they are also excited to eat the food. There are a lot of different dishes on the table and we never tried them before. How can I tried them when we are always eating bread and milk or sometimes the orphanage gives us soup with different vegetables mixed together and a tiny bit of meat.

It feels like a feast looking at the table full of foods. Before we eat we prayed with the lead of the coachman, we still don't know his name and I know he doesn't have any intention of introducing himself. I eat everything I can see from the fresh fruits cut into a bite-size to the soup and roasted meat. I can't feel my stomach how full I am. When we finished eating the food the coachman guide us to our room because the town was packed with a lot of people, the coachman can only book two rooms. One room has a double bed and the second room only has a single bed.

We entered the room that was assigned to us, the room that has a double bed. Carole and Noel decided to share their beds as they are always doing it since when we are still in the orphanage. We placed our baggage next to our beds. Then we decided to sleep as we are so tired from traveling and looking around the town. Before I succumbed to my sleepiness, I touched the ring. This might become my habit and I fall asleep.
