Chapter 15 - The Blackmail

Young Master Fu and Young Mistress Liu started to draw greater public and media attention as they carried on working with the charity.

They were gaining a reputation as the people's champions—those who spoke up for justice and combated injustice and corruption.

Yet additional difficulties arose as a result of that focus.

Every action they took was observed and scrutinised since they were continuously under observation.

They had to be careful who they hung out with and what they said because of the potential effects it may have on their reputation and their ability to do their jobs.

A wealthy businessman who wished to make a sizable gift to the foundation paid them a visit one day.

Young Master Fu and Young Mistress Liu were apprehensive to accept his offer because of his questionable business practises and ties to organised crime.

The guy persisted though, and he gave off the impression that he was truly eager to help them out.

He assured her that the gift would be made anonymously and without conditions.

Both Young Mistress Liu and Young Master Fu were ripped apart.

On the one hand, they were aware that they required as many resources as possible to carry on with their task.

Yet, they didn't want to take money from someone with such a dubious past since doing so would undermine their principles or their integrity.

They ultimately made the decision to reject the contribution.

They expressed their gratitude for the businessman's offer but informed him that they were unable to take money from someone with his reputation.

Young Master Fu and Young Mistress Liu felt it was the correct choice, even if it wasn't an easy one to make.

They were unwilling to budge from the principles of fairness, honesty, and integrity on which their foundation had been established.

They were relieved and proud as they saw the guy depart their office.

No of the obstacles they would encounter along the way, they were resolved to keep fighting for what was right because they believed they were doing something significant.
