In shamganj, the place where there was nor day or night, nor before or after; Ishatar waited, on a platform that floated on the eternal sea. Below her Nagmani, the eternal serpent of time, lay coiled tightly, waiting to unfurl it's wrath on the hapless world as it always did. Ishatar heard a rustle behind her and smiled.
"Always late to the party Quinn."
"It's done, the deed is done!"
"No one suspects us do they?"
"No.....Elena has invited Azriel for a walk by the beach today."
"The Dark Lord wastes no time in getting his minions on the job does he? Lucky for us that Alavar has a roaming eye and likes a pretty one."
Quin scoffed and said, "How long would you stay here with him?"
"Till my duty is done to the currents of time. That's all we are, are we not? Just pawns in the system."
Quinn sighed, "I don't like the thought of what will happen to Azriel. She is a good girl."
