(Azriel POV)
Azriel walked with Ashmeer across the courtyard the next day. It looked pretty much the same as it had on the day of the horrid dinner. Thankfully, there was no sign of The Dark Lord, right now and neither was Azriel keen to meet him at any point. The Blight seemed to have no known night or day, it had the same preternatural light that it always did, no matter what the time was. Kali had left her alone and she was glad for the break. She was terrified of the way The Blight seemed to twist her magic. Every time she practiced magic, she felt as if there was something odd and ugly mixed with it, like a layer of murky oil on pure, clear, cool water. She wondered if it was going to poison her eventually. She wondered if Ashdeer would find her before that.
