Chereads / The Legendary Farmer Class / Chapter 8 - First Encounter

Chapter 8 - First Encounter

It was honestly in his will. The man who always dream to be a farmer just like his parents once were.

On a relatively flat field, Von bore the scorching sun, with his feet on the loess, and wielding his hoe, looking like a general in battle. He weeded the field, appearing invincible.

"Geeez!" Von gently wiped out the sweat on his forehead.

Von knew nothing about farming. However, his movement, strength, and angle of swinging have become more natural, which will make his muscle stretching less intense, reduce physical exertion, and cause more damage to weeds. Well, it can be easier cutting the weeds and roots.

—I'm swinging this hoe efficiently and accurately. Why? Hmm.. maybe because of my class?

After having worked to the end of the field with no rest, Von straightened up his sore back and his eyes flashed with joy. He was happy because of the growing seedling. The situation was just like this. He just love what's he's been doing.

There were twenty farmers taking care of about fifty acres of land, including him. However, there was no upper limit on how much they had to do. None of the farmers would skive, but neither would they rush to do more.

Von cast a look at the other farmers in the fields far behind him.

"They are all hardworking."

They drank when they were thirsty and ate when they were hungry. They took breaks when they were tired and escaped from the heat at noon. They were like ordinary people in a world where magic exists.

He held up a water gourd, which hung from his waist, and took small sips while using it as a cover against the light. Suddenly, a somewhat simple and floating blue screen had appeared. It was strange because the floating blue screen seemed real.

[Range Cultivation (Passive) Level: 1 has been activated!]

[Increase the efficiency of raising plants. The plant will grow 2x faster.]

Von just smirked.

—Looking at these cheat-like skills. I'll be rich, It's just a matter of time. There's no draught season for me."

After a glance, Von casually acts as nothing happened, he put the gourd back on his waist and continued swinging his hoe. He slashed at the crops wholeheartedly. Such a description only served to motivate him.

The day passed just like that.

The fiery sunset dyed the layers of clouds on the west side. The magnificent and gorgeousness was beyond description.

"Good work guys!"

Before the sun went down, supervisor Terrance Mann came with four of his underling. As expected, they're focused on their protection.

The scent of broth wafts in the place, and there is freshly peeled animal skin on the ground. It is a deer. Von ate to his heart's content.

After filling his stomach with meat, soup, and bread. He wanted to try something new.

The fruit looked like an pear, but the color was closer to that of grape. Von put the fruit in his mouth and took a bite.

"Mmmm."

In that instant, sweet fruit juice filled his mouth. He really hated sour fruits, so this extremely sweet flavor in his mouth made him subconsciously start to drool.

He buckled up and buried himself in a corner where the last afterglow of the sun could not shine as much as possible. He also had this kind of happiness, but he didn't say it. After getting into the thatched cottage and letting the darkness cover his face,

The campfire was crackling, and the territory was full of a joyous atmosphere inside and outside.

A few minutes later, Von went to sleep smoothly.

In the middle of the night, some shouts seemed to have happened. Almost everyone was awakened. A bold farmer slipped out to check. After a while, he came back and gestured in an extremely frightened.

"I-I can't see clearly, Butt… it was a goblin!"

To their horror, it was a monster attack.

Von didn't move.

He couldn't judge that if the situation was under control only by listening to the shouts. Terrance Mann was there for a purpose. No matter what the attack was, it had nothing to do with him as a farmer.

When Terrance Mann arrived, his face holding the torch was ugly, and he immediately blasted everyone up. While ordering everyone to run while they hold the group of goblins.

"I let my guard down"

The moment the wooden gate was breached, there stood a group of goblins approaching in their direction. The threat of a goblin was far greater than they'd expected. The number of goblins was six.

Terrance ran to protect old man Leo.

Von had surveyed the place, unlike other farmer. Von remained composed and calm.

"Don't tell me?"

In front of him was a shorter-than-human stature, with a hooked nose, bat-like ears, and a malevolent demeanor.

Von looked on at that small group of goblins, he noticed that one of the goblins wielded a long spear, and wore a necklace of fangs around its neck.

Suddenly the goblins have scattered, and their whereabouts are unknown.

At that instant, the goblin rushed and thrust towards Von but he was somehow able to dodge it by rolling on the ground. Von broke into a cold sweat.

"Tsk."

Then he picked himself up and chose to run in the north.

The path beyond the north is closed by to the Forest of Gluttony.

Ever since people had stopped living near the forest, almost no one's gone to the mountains.

So naturally, the path leading to the mountain has worsened over time. Turning it into its current condition where half of the road's been corroded, thickets are crawling out from both sides, and small plants could be seen growing on the road.

Bristling with trees, it was within that narrow road. Von chose this place specifically because it was narrow.

Being narrow, he expected the goblin to have difficulty moving its long spear, but that expectation was completely blown away.

The goblin brought the spear above his head and spun it. By taking advantage of the effect of centrifugal force, that spear became a force to be reckoned, easily mowing down the surrounding small trees. The power contained within that spear was so strong that he would be blown away if he was hit.
