I wasn't all alone finally; even when unconscious I could still smell him. I knew I was safe; for now. The task wasn't done and my brother; being so adamant as it seems for vengeance, what I had was only limited time and could never be resourceful enough to defeat him without taking the bracelet of N'yah off. Slightly I moved on something soft, opening my eyes they set on the sky before a beautiful face appeared, as I tried to sit up; Jake placed a hand on my shoulder
"You should not make any sudden movements," he said cautiously in a soft tone. Ignoring his warning I sat up and pulled him into a hug wrapping my hand around his neck, I started to tear feeling the pain of his loss all over again although it wasn't true and to think that I almost gave up while he was out there alive and well looking for me. I couldn't even begin to think what it would have done to him
"I thought I'd never be able to see you again," I said in between sniveling hugging him tighter, in tears. As soon as they cleared I saw him standing just a few feet away from us. My body ran into chills as I watch his empty eyes looking into mine, his demeanor the same as last night; it was scary and unwanted.
Without thinking twice I pulled away slowly from Jake's warmth, while my insides burned with embarrassment. Standing up, Jake stood as well following my gaze back to Cassius.
Why is he still here?
We stood side to side shooting gaze to him and his to us in a while of awkward silence;
"Thank you," I almost whispered it; my voice halted on every word.
"For last night," I added, instead of the tension in the air dying down it was as though I added to it. Cassius's face stayed the same cold expression, showing no care; the way he looked at me before with a sort of passion he seek to slake, missing it on him made tension build around my throat. I wanted him to do something; anything. come at me like an animal, wanting to spill my blood into the earth, squeeze the life out of me while snatching the ground beneath my feet, pursue me with hatred that seems to give meaning to our relationship, strangle and threaten me with his fangs, or at least try to kiss me again
As the thoughts took over my mind with a previous memory of it playing in front of my gaze, I felt Jake's fingers draw down inside my palm, intertwine our fingers and squeeze almost too tight; I could feel his emotion through the touch, a strong desire, claiming me to be his; his Luna. Looking at the hardening features of Jake's face, I realized just how fatal my wishes were to everyone, Cassius's eyes flared just for a fraction of a second; just enough so only I could have noticed it when Jake took my hand. I equally squeezed back, taking in a gulp of air
"A deal is a deal," Jake said unevenly
"What deal?" I asked almost too quickly
They both hesitated to answer my question, "What deal did you make Jake?" I asked pressingly
"Indeed," Cassius answered with a smirk, I felt my insides rattle because those smiles of his still held their effects on me. Adrenaline rushed into my system and the worry levels in me rose, I knew Jake could go to the extreme to protect me.
"Yes, if I ever get to see you again, I'd make sure I offer you as gratitude to my dead parents" Jake threatened and it didn't sound like what he would say but we all change towards our situations
One last time he made sure I saw it again before he vanished out of sight, he was relentlessly trying to hide it.
Out of sight out of mind, that was one of the most misleading phrases I have ever heard. It took me a while to be able to work properly; it took us two more days in that same spot; it made me paranoid. My brother's words weren't any threats I had ever heard; it's tormenting, he had the most upright motive to end me. While both Vane and Jake worked their selves to the bones within 48 hours to get those shackles off but it was to no avail, I left myself in the corner wondering how the hell I was going to face him again
"I don't think we can ordinarily take it off, he must have sealed it off with something I cannot undo" Vane concluded and as a person of his caliber to be clueless in such a situation then I would be living the rest of my miserable life in them unless Flynn felt compassionate enough towards me.
"I think he called it bracelets of Nyah?" I said unsure looking down at my wrists
"What?" I could here the disbelieve in Vane's voice, he almost sounded like I was going crazy
"Bracelet of Nyah" I whispered looking at the horrified look on his face
"That is impossible" He stated, he reached his hand a trace the cuffs on my wrist and withdrew his hand again quickly
"What's wrong?" Jake asked quickly, worried
"This, I don't.." Vane was struggling to put words together. My heart sank to the pit of my stomach, hopelessness washed over me. He shook his head lightly and said
"This is trouble"
I simply smiled, vane provided with some concoction to bring some energy back into my muscles but I was still significantly weak. There was nothing else more for us to do at that time
"But I will look into it again" he assured, stood up, and took off
It was just me and Jake. I was sitting up against a tree looking down at my messy hands unable to think past the few days I spent with Flynn
"Hey," Jake said playfully nudging me on the arm as he noticed me in deep thoughts; I looked up into his eyes, full of faith and hope for me
How did he manage to stay sane all these years?
"Don't think too much about it" he added taking my hand in his lovingly intertwining our fingers together. He winked at me making me blush and unintentionally smiling back.
"I couldn't track you for all this time, never imagined that my brother attacked you" I said because the weight had been there.
"If anything had happened to you," he cut me off abruptly by pulling me closer to him saying
"But nothing happened to me"
I didn't even want to imagine what could have happened to him if Vane didn't interfere, I owe him. Flynn would have killed Jake just how he showed me because that was his desire he portrayed to me.
"I am here" he added squeezing my hand
We locked eyes and the fire reenacted again, I felt the longing of him in full force. Powerless towards the urges that drove us, our lips locked in and we kissed passionately and it felt; just for a second the perfect fairytale to be in. Vane coming back to us made the moment rather awkward, he stood looking at us with a little bit of admiration; I knew he equally had a lot to say about the Rayleigh bloodline but he tried to skin the distaste he has.
"I think we should get moving,"
"Right," I answered quickly to mask the awkwardness I felt
Jake's POV
I had scaled through many territories friendly and not; skipped many towns. It's exactly one hundred and fifty days when last I saw her, I had that moment imprinted in my mind. The way she pulled me to her confirmed that she felt the same way but I was still worried to have left her there even though I knew hunter and Leo wouldn't let any harm come her way. Lord Orpheus is a cunning man I don't trust, Gia bay from the idea of talking about the marriage alliance made between them but I knew it must be because of us. It was the dead of the night, this is the third night I was spending there, and I tailed every single clue that kai might have left only to throw me further off. I have no idea where I am sitting currently or what lead I will be following next, they are all exhausted not even his scent could be found. Nobody seemed to have seen him around; it was like he disappeared with the body of his mate, I held in my hand a photo we'd taken all together. The only family I have, cold and alone it's the only thing that gave me warmth besides the clothes Gia forced I take with. She really does thought of everything. Morning came quickly, though I didn't have it in me to sleep in an unknown place for the third day, I had to. I was woken up by a tweet. The first thing I have heard in three days straight besides my own doings. My eyes fluttered opened and the light up peered my eyes that I had to shield them. It warmed up pretty quickly; I started to accumulate beads of sweat under my coat, I sat up wearily pulling the coat off and putting back in the bag.
Food reserve had run out quiet a time ago and each day I would either had to hunt or go hungry, and this is the third day also. That tweeting came from my east, and I had checked several times around each cardinal for water or food. I had a lot of time in my hands so I made a spear from a tree trunk waiting on an animal to cross my path; I had to remember Gia's word when I was teaching her how to hunt but this was a necessity for me to keep going. I grabbed the wooden spear and rose to my feet, I followed the call of that tweet to the east looking up every now and then to spot it but it seemed to be getting father away from me as I approach. I kept forward not wanting to lose the only chance I had to food in three whole days but not until I was considerably far from where I camped, the tweet just stopped and the surrounding became unfamiliar. I ran span out the clustered trees and was now in a specious, light filled space, trees here and there it seemed like a forest but it had many fallen trees to be called one. The air in the space was very fresh and carried with it every smell around the area including two distinctive scents; one of which I recognized. I whipped my head behind me, I noticed a man standing there which wasn't initially there. I turned to face him completely now clutching the wooden spare in my hand tightly. He looked at me with the coldest and straight expression I had ever seen, his jade colored eyes held danger and power which made him look strong and fierce although he's slender and shorter than I am. His shoulder length hair was in waves and set perfectly to match his 1800's style of dressing, along his shoulder rested a robe over the length of his attire.
He then suddenly retracted his right hand to his side, slowly with his pointer and thumb out of his made fist like he was gesturing to something, I followed his motion and from behind him walked out a man I knew so well or what's rest of him. Kai held the same cold gaze as the man besides him, his eyes deepen with darkness and his stance was no less than a regressive individual. In a wave of a hand, Kia's skin literarily tore away from his body and he dropped down in his wolf form. His black fur radiated light; his body was muscled into a beast. From what I knew of him before his wolf physique had changed significantly, he's almost doubles his size, muscles could visibly be seen, his teeth were sharper and bigger and his eyes were obscure, there was no light in them that would show he is a shape shifter and not a feral wild animal. He growled under his breath just enough to get me intimidated, thick white saliva formed in the corner of his mouth as his face twitch with mercilessness.
Again the man that was standing by kai was no ordinary man because a werewolf cannot shift unless under a full moon which is not. He could easily influence kai and have him under his control, not to mention kai doesn't have an easy going personality and has a mind like a steel trap. The full moon was in about fifteen days from then, I peered through the man and I had no any possible explanation unless for witchcraft. No witch had dared to come against a werewolf or a vampire because they were already downed in the society. Although having powers of their own, having a whole clan seeking to kill you is no joke, so I tried to intimidate him too.
"Witch, surrender my friend to me this minute!"
