Chapter 21 - Static

The silence was back again and I have so much to say but I was feeling hesitant or maybe I found myself doubtful. After sharing a large scarp book of evidence, family tree of ancient souls, I was convinced to be related to Ruby but still confused, I haven't asked much but just watch her lips utter words plainly to be considered out of a mentally deprived person but that wasn't any plain situation.

It turned out I was linked to a family of vampires and werewolves, even witches but how I ended up in the human world was left for the next morning discussion as I insisted but she wanted to share until I was mentally prepared for it.

With that information shared, that was no anymore mental preparation I needed because there was nothing to match up to that reality. But what question still remained as I lay in the bed, tucked in.

Why did the vampires want to kill me?

Next morning, I rolled out of bed like a heavy rock resulting from the sort of sleep I had. I wasn't really conscious and I wasn't awake, filled with disturbing dreams of the red haired lady jumping off a cliff and the noise was louder each time, it was in my head. I could have thought it was really happening in my bedroom but I knew better...it was just a nightmare that would defuse after I woke.

Still in my clothes from yesterday, I went over to the bathroom which was the door opposite to my room, it wasn't really big, it was just a half of my room. It had a new toothbrush set out, a new towel and a simple note taped to the mirror

I will be back in an hour, breakfast is on the table.

I peeled off the note and set it aside, I brushed my teeth thoroughly and enjoyed the strong minty taste whilst doing it. I haven't brushed my teeth in a while and it was really irritating.

Afterwards needing to take a bath wasn't so strong, I turned on the tap above the bath tub and the only thing I got was the rumbling noise of an empty tap. I later notice a giant pale of luke warm water, I used it to rinse my mouth and just freshen up.

Having my breakfast quietly the temptation of going out through the door was rising especially with the chirping of the birds and the shinning sun.

Right after taking my last bit she came through the door with her a bag slung over her shoulder and a basket of apples. She set them on the table before proceeding to hang her bag on a hook in the kitchen wall.

"Good, you are just about finished" she said

"What's going on?" I asked as she came by the basket again taking it and dumping the fruit in a bowl.

"You will need to make an appearance to the clan leader. Everyone on the land needs to be accountable. We will be leaving this evening"

"Is there anything I will be doing there?"

"Nothing much just stating your reasons of coming"

I responded with a "hmmm" sound thinking what my "sincere" reason could be. While she worked behind me in the sink, I simply worked through the events that unfolded recently but I was still conscious of every thing, I could see great granny through my peripheral vision. There wasn't much of my breakfast but I had the oddly refreshing tea nurturing every sip inside my mouth before swallowing which was taking me a lot more time to finish it.

I wasn't really into sitting there but I was just thinking of how to address her, to tell her I wanted to explore my new found freedom that still felt unreal.

"Great granny,"

"Let's help you with that, call me grandma Ruby or just Ruby in short and yes. You can look outside" I turned around completely standing up on two feet I was astonished.

"Apart from glancing my way, you've been eyeing that door too. You can go but just be careful" She pulled me down a bit, I was a bit taller holding on to my shoulder planting a tender kiss on my forehead and it sure felt like family. It wasn't odd but i couldn't shake the feeling of weirdness.

I walked out the door meeting with the yellow glow of the morning sun feeling like a first time ever. I was immediately wrapped in it's warmth and the chirping of the forest birds singing with them too the whistling of the wind and the rustling of the leaves beneath my feet.

I haven't felt that in like forever and it was a great feeling!

Grandma Ruby's house was a bit surrounded by bushes and thick trees further out and it looked down hill too. For an old werewolf it wasn't really a wise choice to stay there with all the wild animals and insecurities of this dangerous world.

I took the dirt road that was the only clear path stretching forward. I spread my arms like I was expecting a hug and let my eyes slowly closing sucking in the better goodness of green and wet sand, leaves dancing against my palms as I move along slowly. Through all that amusement and wallowing in my new found freedom in a way, I couldn't resist laughing out loud and twirling.

"If you want to survive around this region, we sleep with our eyes wide open especially for people of your kind" I was suddenly almost hitting my face to the ground due to the sudden interruption of my peace walk. I peeled my eyes opened seeing a shirtless young man, dark hair and light brown eyes looking at me with an undelighted look. For a person I have just met, I didn't think that was a foot to start on

Well that's not new to me now

"I think I will do just fine around here" I said shoving past him, I don't know what deal I have with the people around here but I have entertained enough. I was looking forward to my peace walk in-between the trees when he grabbed me by the wrist and swing me back effortless, his grip was nothing but rough and hurting. He looked like I had stepped on his tail or something

"Get your hands off!" I was even more furious than I have ever been, that crackling sound and static waves wrapping around my whole body in an urgent protective mode, my pulse was incredibly rapid.

I didn't know how but it just started, flashed of images fast and torturous of a gathering people laughing and exchanging pleasantries drinking and dancing. I could feel the happiness and calmness of the air but deep inside it an amorous feeling, a desire filled with ecstacy.

The image then shifted away from the population into a dark, tree dense forest. I heard the moaning of love, then I saw a lady dark haired and light brown eyes...pinned to a tree hands running up and down her body so fast while they lips clasp to each other. They pulled away for just a brief moment observing her hungrily, she had slim nose and built body almost thesame height as him. It was like I was looking through a different body—his body, like a mirror effect.

The image then flashed away into a different memory, the day I could never forget. The day I was open to the reality the werewolves were real, it wasn't in my view. It was like I was the wolf that came at front towards me, I could see how petrified I looked trying to get away backing away slowly before it tried to charge towards me. I pulled out finding that I had pinned him to a tree; one of his wrist in my hand arm pulled out and his face pressed against the bark of the tree with my other hand. I was heaving rapidly, around my head wrapped a slight band arising from confusing and the fast flashes of images. Then I just saw a spark of light bursting out of my hand to his held wrist. His moaning of pain and heaving with anger snapped me out. After taking in the change of situation, wandering when it all happened I immediately let go taking  few steps back gazing down at my hands and then trying to comprehend what happened.

Lenora did thesame with me when I first woke, she showed me the images too but how did I do that.

I looked back at him now turned around looking at me even angrier and slightly shock but not as I was just dumbstruck...I just let out an electric shock and looked through his mind. He continued to heave angrily putting his hand over the shoulder of the arm I almost pulled out.
