Falcon cast Aurelia a disturbed glance. She was not moving. Her eyes stared straight ahead at her father's soul, as if everything else in the world had ceased to exist. Her mouth was slightly open, and hanging loose.
The soul itself was not in a good condition. There had been Bessie, shining like the morning star, and now their was Xander, with even his soul murky and disturbed. Screaming faces kept appearing in the translucent fog and disappearing. It was as if his entire being was shrieking in pain.
This was not what a daughter should be seeing of her father.
Falcon grabbed Aurelia's hands and tried to turn her away from the tree, but she resisted. She looked over at Xander with the same expression on her face.
Falcon caught Shayma and Zue giving her an identical pitying look and felt his gut wrench. How must Aurelia be feeling right now. She had experienced enough grief. To actually see her father in his state of punishment was a bit too much.
