No, she couldn't die. After all that had happened...after everything that she had conquered...Aurelia Renatus simply could not be killed at the hands of some silly demons.
Well, not silly. But still, she was too brave, too splendid, to simply...die.
And yet, here she was...lying in a pool of blood with her body twisted at weird angles. Her face was turned away from him so he couldn't see her eyes. Were they close? Or were they open in terror or shock...for all eternity?
Falcon couldn't bear it anymore.
He hurried towards her and knelt down, extending a trembling hand to turn her face towards him. That is when he realized that she was breathing, chest rising and falling in a slow rhythm. Falcon's heartbeat turned erratic as he shook her lightly, then strongly, to bring her to consciousness.
'Aurelia...Aurelia, wake up...' He whispered urgently, holding up her face.
