Jasper's nostrils flared, his stance defensive. "You're talking as if this is a mere negotiation. We've been enemies with the vampires for generations."
Nesta's gaze didn't waver. "And what good has that enmity done us? We're facing an enemy that's far more powerful than either of us. We need to put aside our pride and focus on survival."
One of the younger werewolves spoke up, his voice tinged with anger. "So, what? We just bow down to the vampires now? We become their underlings?"
Nesta's tone was firm. "No, we negotiate an alliance. We find common ground and work together for our mutual benefit. We need to make them understand what is at stake here, global annihilation of both the natural and supernatural beings" Nesta said, trying to make them see the real threat that lies ahead.
Jasper's fists clenched, his jaw tight. "I won't put my pack at the mercy of vampires."
