Ruthy okwe is a very vibrant girl, she is from the north central region of Nigeria, she is the eldest of four siblings,mr okwe her father is a carpenter and her mother Lydia okwe a cook,who cook for benue hotel, although there are not amongst the social class of the society,yet they are so happy and contented with their lives.
In St Joseph primary school Ruthy happens to be one of the best student,and her brilliancy attracted Vivian to her, making Vivian her only best friend in school.
On her way out of the class,that afternoon, she felt someone tap her shoulder,hello book nerd the voice said from behind, only Vivian calls me that she said and looked backwards,you are right about that Vivian said, only me have the right to call you a book nerd,are you done with math homework Vivian asked,yes Ruthy replied,well am having a little challenge, maybe you could assist me this evening,I will only if you help me out , with what Vivian asked, well my father asked me to get some woods from his workshop,we can go together and then I will help you out,you are so cunning Vivian said,but you know I will always be there,yes Ruthy said, what can I do without you well I Know that as well that's why am sad what do you mean sad Ruthy asked,my mother wants me to join her in the states after my final exams next month,I see Ruthy said with a sad expression, but don't worry,I will always call, well am not sad Ruthy said,it's just that I will miss us,I Know Vivian replied,but that will not stop you from becoming a doctor, it's your dreams,yes Ruthy said, and when I become a doctor,then I will come visit you in the United State,I Know right Vivian said holding her,see you later in the day Ruthy said as they parted ways.
Ruthy is just in her final year in primary school, she is only 13, but at 13 she has been through a lot that made her even stronger,she has a younger sister prudent,and Dorothy, and one younger brother Andrew, she always make sure to assist her parents in any little opportunity she gets.
Am home mother she screamed from outside,that has been her habit, because she always come back from school early so her mother could get to the hotel early, she opened the net door in their small compound and entered the house, mummy am back she said again before noticing the expression on her mother's face, what's wrong mother she asked you look sad I will be fine, hurry go get your siblings from school,I will mummy, but tell me why you are crying, in tears Lydia told her daughter about the problem at the hotel, what Ruthy screamed, the hotel is about to be demolished, but why she asked,well the state government don't have enough money to run it, so it was sold to a private organization,Ruthy draw closer to her mother,am so sorry mummy, what hurts me more is that, there are not paying us for this month, and are aware of your father's situations,he has been asked to vacate the workshop before this month ending, what are we going to do Ruthy, she was quite for a while, let me go get my siblings from school where the only words she uttered.
