The restaurant was barely 5 minutes running distance from Axel's school, and soon enough, he found the location he was meant to go to. It was a moderately sized restaurant, with brand new glass panels a sign-board reading 'United We Rice'
Although he had read the name while applying for the job, and in the message from the restaurant for the interview, he still nearly burst out laughing at the name. However, since he was right in front of the shop, he controlled himself and walked towards the door.
The two glass doors shifted to the side while levitating in the air.
'Levitation technology… Pretty expensive… Something like this should at least cost around 10,000 credits. With this kind of budget, they could easily hire a proper delivery company through official channels to handle their deliveries… Why would they need me?'
Although many jobs were made mandatory to be handled by humans, with enough money and connections you could easily bypass these restrictions, and officially get robots to handle deliveries.
"We are temporarily closed for the day. Would you mind coming back tomorrow?"
A gentle and calming voice entered Axel's ears and he walked into the restaurant. Looking over to where the voice originated from, Axel saw a rather mature lady, at least 5 years older than himself, just barely crossing the marriable age.
Due to the improvements in medicine over time, the average human lifespan had already reached 110 years, with some of those who can afford special treatment from an early age can even live up to 130 years.
This also has gradually changed the mentality of humans, which made the federation change the age when one is officially considered an adult to be 21, and the age at which you are allowed to consume alcohol to 25.
"Uhm, I am Axel, here for an interview." He said after a brief moment of admiring how beautiful this lady looked. She had short golden-white hair that barely reached her shoulders, curling inwards just before. Her bright blue eyes were a stark contrast to her ebony skin.
"Oh! Aha! The kid who applied yesterday! Come in and sit down, I'll go get the owner"
The lady put down her phone and went to get the owner of the restaurant, clearly forgetting to lock her phone. A faintly familiar tune was being played on the phone, tickling at Axel's curiosity.
Axel bent over the counter and took a glimpse of what was on the phone, and once he saw what was on the screen, a smile appeared on his face as he nodded at the lady inwardly, approval practically plastered on his face.
She was currently playing Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Refuelled. It was essentially the same game as the original, with the same code, but better graphics and optimised to the latest technology. However, it still worked with all the original mods, both official and unofficial, making it incredibly popular with the online critiques.
Unlike the new games which had been untasteful repetitions of 'Isekai', this game had a strong 'flavour' to it, once you have tasted it you would never forget.
Axel himself had played this game at least 20 times already, including the rather questionable 'extender mods'. But he had already played the game so much that he was fed up with it, and had therefore shifted his attention to any newer games which were slightly different from the rest.
Dan was also the same type of person, and that was how he came across Evolution Online.
However, Axel was brought back to reality by footsteps, and he looked towards the direction the lady had left in and noticed that both she and a middle-aged buff man were walking towards him.
Instantly, Axel could sense a vague feeling of suffocation, clearly emanating from the middle-aged man.
The person in question also stopped walking and looked at Axel with a smirk and as lightly stroked his slightly greyed beard, which barely passed the qualification of being called a beard instead of a stubble.
His crimson eyes shone with a faint light for a moment before he retracted his aura and nodded at Axel before turning around and leaving.
Axel on the other hand felt like a mountain had been lifted off his shoulders as he let go of the breath he had sucked in and whipped away the sweat that had formed on his forehead.
'That elder is at least a warrior, possibly even an expert!'
Warrior was a realm that Axel could not even dream of reaching in his previous life. Expert was something akin to a god for the previous Axel. But maybe, just maybe, in this life, he might be able to reach this level.
"Ho! Nice! You were able to hold out under the owner's gaze! Haha, that means you have at least awakened KI. Don't worry about your job. You have passed the interview. You can start the job from tomorrow. Make sure you reach here by 3:30 p.m. every day. Oh yeah, I forgot to introduce myself. I am Winx. But you should call be Big Sis. After all, I am more than a decade older than you. Anyway, run along now. I'm sure you have other things to do other than just staring at my incredibly beautiful and attractive face. Shoo."
After being blasted with a tonne of information at one, Winx, lifted Axel up from the back of his collar like a little kitten and placed him outside the restaurant, all with one hand. Only then did Axel realise that under that beautiful façade was an incredibly powerful person, clearly with KI of her own, and at a much higher grade thank himself. At least at Grade 5, while he himself was stuck at Grade 1.
