"Lady Hastings. Your daughter, lady Dianna, has arrived."
"Bring her in." Answered my mother.
"Dianna, what brings you here?"
"Mother!" I said as I ran to her arms. The last time I saw my mother, was in the summer of my 16th birthday. This year I am 15. That means I have a year to prevent her death.
My mother was frail, like me. Every winter, she would have to stay inside as the harsh cold weather made her fall sick. If I were to remember correctly she was not always like this. When I was a child, around five or six years old, she would run around and play with me. It wasn't until Odette, and her mother came to this house. Odette was my half-sister, but I did not know she was my half-sister until a few months before my death. On the other hand, she always knew. My father, her mother, and she made me believe that she was just my step-sister and best friend. They planned to take over my mother's family title and wealth.
My father was of lower rank than my mother, he was still a nobleman but of lower rank. My mother on the other hand was the only daughter and child of the Marquess of Hastings. My mother and father were childhood friends along with Odette's mother, Lady Bourbon, daughter of Baron Bourbon. My father, on the other hand, was a rank higher than Odette's mother. He was the son of a Viscount. He was the youngest of three kids. He has an older brother, my uncle, Viscount Benjamin Barclay, and my aunt Countess Ingrid Viotto. Since my mother was the only child of Marquess Hastings, after my father married my mother, he joined my mother's family by taking the last name and acting as the new head of the household. Although my mother was the real heir, she loved my father so much that she let him act as the Marquess.
My father, on the other hand, did not love my mother, but her best friend, Lady Pricilla. Pricilla was married off by her father, Baron Bourbon. While she was married, she gave birth to only one child, Odette. Everyone believed that it was her husband's child, but it was not. She was having an affair with her childhood friend and the husband of her best friend, my father. Together they came up with a plan to take over my mother's inheritance. They first killed her husband. Odette was five at that time. She did not know anything. But as the years went by, her mother and father told her the truth, and as well as bothering her parents, she was blinded by greed. Then they would kill my mother.
Lady Pricilla moved in after the death of her husband. She worked as mother's lady on waiting. Since she was already close friends with my mother, gaining her trust was not a difficult task, she already had it. She would feed my mother poison that would not kill her at the moment, would worsen her health, and slowly kill her. This went on for years. While Lady Pricila was poisoning my mother, my father was trying to convince my mother to make him the heir in case anything happened to her. She suspected something was off so she decided not to and made me the only heir. To much of my dismay, that was what caused my death.
"What is wrong, my child?"
"Nothing. I just missed you. Thats all. How have you been?"
"I have been feeling quite well after resting for a bit. Why do you ask?"
"I was just asking since you are so fragile, mother. Do you wish to take a walk in the garden?"
"Of course."
In this life, i must find a way to keep my mother alive and make all those who have harmed us pay.
