The walkway became darker the closer they got to the healing room. The twists and turns began to look confusing and Damien wasn't sure if he would be able to find his way out if he needed to. He tried his best to remember things that stood out to him along the way.
His heart sped up and his eyes quickly adjusted to the dark. Being a demon had its benefits. His nerves were on high alert with guards surrounding him in the darkness. No one would know if they decided to end him at that moment.
The only advantage he had was they did not know he was a demon. At least he thought they did not. He would have to be very careful. If it was a trap, he would be ready to fight his way out of there.
They stopped in the middle of the halls and one of the guards opened a small hanging box that sit snugly in a deep indentation in the wall. He pulled out a small light to brighten their pathway. It was barely any brighter than it was without it.
