Zia's mind was in a whirlwind of thoughts after Helena's revelation. She sat in a chair near the window. It was her favorite place in the room. She couldn't go far anyway. She liked to see the forest during the day.
She wondered if Damien found her. The word had to have spread by now about the white-haired witch who was also a thief. Her stomach turned at the thought of how people perceived her because of Arlon.
She couldn't let Damien find her but then she wondered, who was really worse? With Damien she knew his evil ways, but Arlon was someone she knew nothing about.
After reading the spell book, she knew the journal entry had to be from the woman in the painting. Helena did say she was his interest. He had to have been horrible to her for her to write those things. He made her not want to live...but Damien made her feel that way as well.
She crossed her arms in front of her as she hunched forward, rubbing away the prickles on her skin.
