Chapter 1 - Black Stone Statues of God

On the playground of Heiner High School.

In the front of the playground was a high platform and colorful flags were flying. All the senior three students gathered class by class.

There were nervous looks on their childish faces.

They were excited to see the three stone statues each of which was seven or eight meters high on the high platform.

This day was the awakening day of the school. All the senior three students would come to call out the true name of the Gods, ask for a blessing, awaken their cultivation talent, and become a cultivator guarding the earth.

Without these statues, the earth might have become the breeding area and slaughterhouse of alien tribes and abyss demons.

A million years ago, a strange black hole appeared near the earth, and then countless armored warships invaded the earth.

At the same time, countless ugly abyss demons appeared from the underground space and slaughtered human beings.

When the Earth's defenders were to be defeated and humans almost went extinct, many stone statues appeared out of nowhere and landed in the human safety area.

People did not know what they were. At this time, someone called out the true name of the stone statues.

Then the outer layer of the stone statues ruptured, and colorful lights shone in all directions. The lights flew and fell on the person who called out the true name of the statues. Then he obtained the divine inheritance.

After a period of cultivation, he was comparable to the Gods in power and obtained eternal life.

Later, more people called out the true name of Gods. They also obtained eternal life while possessing the power of Gods.

With these divine inheritors, humans gradually had the power to fight against the alien tribes and the abyss demons.

After a long time, a large number of people who obtained the divine inheritance and made achievements in cultivation united and set up the Alliance of Gods. They launched the Holy War and expelled the alien tribes and the abyss demons from the earth.

However, there were still many marks and relics left by the alien tribes and the abyss demons on the earth. To deal with the next possible invasion, the members of the Alliance of Gods divided the earth into different parts and each occupied one part as their territory. The virtuous competition on territories among them was equivalent to military training.

They also found that when they called out the names of the statues again, they could not obtain the divine inheritance but could awaken their cultivation talent. And the statues could also possess Power of Faith.

That was the origin of the awakening day.

...

Matthew opened his eyes in a daze. The sun shone directly on his face, making him feel very uncomfortable. He subconsciously covered his eyes to block the dazzling sunshine. At this time, someone pulled his clothes a few times.

"It's a sacred awakening ceremony. Be serious." A clear voice came from behind Matthew, making him sober up.

"Sierra?" Matthew looked back at the girl and subconsciously said the name.

Sierra frowned and shushed. Then Matthew turned his head.

Suddenly, a huge amount of information emerged in his mind.

The gods, the abyss demons, the alien tribes, the universe cracks, awakening, exploration...

After digesting all the information, Matthew rubbed his head and was surprised. 'Did I transmigrate?' he thought.

Although he didn't analyze the information carefully, he had a preliminary understanding of the world.

He traveled time and came to the world a million years after the modern world. There were no countries here, but only the territories of the gods.

This was a very dangerous world, in which one could die at any time.

From time to time, low-grade abyss demons would emerge from the underground. The lofty gods didn't care about them and just treated them as the prey of the soldiers. Besides, the demons could let the soldiers knew that the world was not as peaceful as it seemed.

After knowing this, Matthew looked around. The moment he saw his classmates and teachers, their names appeared in his mind.

"It's not too bad," Matthew whispered. At least he had a clear understanding of his interpersonal relationships, which was better than know nothing.

At this time, Matthew felt that his clothes were being pulled again, and he heard Sierra's voice from behind.

"Don't be nervous. If you fail to awaken and are not admitted to Divine Academy, I will protect you," Sierra said.

Listening to Sierra's proud voice, Matthew didn't speak and made an "Okay" sign.

Everything about the awakening day appeared in Matthew's mind.

On the day of their graduation, everyone had to call out the true name of the statues to awaken their cultivation talents.

Each statue of a god represented a god.

The first person who called out the true name of the statue would obtain the divine inheritance. And after cultivation, he would become a God and obtain eternal life.

Those who called out the true name of the statues after him wouldn't obtain the divine inheritance, but they could get the blessing of the gods and awaken their cultivation talents, which was also attractive enough!

In addition to the gods, all those who cultivated successfully could live thousands of years. Some even lived over ten thousand years.

While Matthew was lost in thought, on the high platform, the principal of Heiner High School, as well as the messengers of the gods in Heiner District, was telling the glorious deeds of the gods and their blessings to the world.

Some staff members were preparing for the awakening ceremony next.

"Heiner Middle School is located in the area ruled by God of Death Thanatos and Goddess of Forest Syrinx. It's our honor."

"You may call out either of the two statues' names to awaken your cultivation talent. Even if you fail once, you still have another chance. That is a special treatment that the students in other districts don't have. We should thank the great gods."

On the high platform, the principal proudly talked about the advantages of the Heiner High School. Many students looked excited and they clenched their fists.

Hearing these words, Matthew frowned slightly and felt very surprised.

It shouldn't be like this. Even if ancient myths became true, why were there only medium-level gods in this world? Where were the Twelve Main Gods?

Matthew turned to look at his classmates and found that they all had an expression of approval and enthusiasm, agreeing with the principal's words.

Obviously, they also took the medium-level gods as the supreme gods.

Matthew came from the earth with a long history. But in this place, due to cultural disadvantage, people knew nothing about the ancient myths.

Only the gods that had survived a long time ago knew about it. People could get little information from the gods.

Thinking of this, Matthew shook his head helplessly and looked at the three statues on the high platform.

The first was Goddess of Forest, Syrinx. She was female and her body was turquoise, surrounded by green light spots. Her face was covered by light spots and could not be seen clearly.

The second was God of Death, Thanatos. He was surrounded by blood-red light. When one looked carefully at the stone statue, he or she could smell the faint smell of blood.

Thanatos was one of the most powerful gods. He furiously killed many enemies in the Holy War, making countless intruders terrified of him.

The last statue looked ordinary without any special features.

He was wearing a helmet, with a bident in his hand, and his face could not be seen clearly either. A dog with three heads crouched at his feet.

"This is..."

When Matthew saw the statue, he suddenly froze with his eye wide open. He knew this god!
