Chapter 28 - Ability Test

Boom!

Gray's feet suddenly stepped on the ground, emitting a muffled sound. His two thick arms were also swinging forcefully, and he was like a leopard, charging forward at an incomparably fast speed.

A breeze blew around him as he quickly passed the speed measuring area.

Beep!

The speedometer sounded the moment Gray passed the line. The beeping indicated that the speed had been measured. Everyone who heard the sound turned their eyes to the screen of the speedometer, wanting to see the exact value.

"20.1 m / s."

"Wow, is this even humanly possible?" Dr. Zhang's assistant was the first to check the speed. He immediately screamed and expressed his surprise.

The others were also surprised when they heard Gray's speed.

"Let's do the reaction speed test next. Follow me." Dr. Zhang was surprised when he saw Gray's speed test results, but he slowly calmed down. He had expected Gray's huge improvement.

After recording some of Gray's data, Dr. Zhang led Gray to the testing room for the reaction speed test. The testing room for the reaction speed was not as big as the other two.

However, the things placed in this room were undoubtedly very shocking. There were six machine guns in the entire room.

"Doctor, are you trying to kill me?" Gray looked at the six chilling machine guns in the room and smiled exaggeratedly at the doctor.

"Haha, Gray, you're thinking too much. This reaction testing venue mainly relies on these six machine guns for testing."

"The bullets in this machine gun will only cause you pain. They won't really hurt you."

Gray heaved a sigh of relief.

"But Gray, you have to protect your vital points. If they really hit your vitals, the outcome will be uncertain." Dr. Zhang saw Gray heave a sigh of relief and explained more.

Gray looked at Dr. Zhang's smile and subconsciously looked between his legs, feeling a cold sensation at his crotch.

"Stand in the middle of the room. Be careful not to leave the center. Try your best to dodge the bullets of these six machine guns."

Dr. Zhang ignored Gray's internal thoughts and explained the process of the reaction speed test.

"Just like the previous two tests, adjust your condition first. Give me a signal, and I will turn on these machine guns. Remember, do your best to prevent bullets from touching you."

"The total time of this test is three minutes. Let's see how many bullets you can dodge in three minutes."

Gray shook his head and quickly suppressed the other thoughts in his mind to calm himself down. Then, he slowly walked to the center of the room.

He took a deep breath and felt that his heart had already calmed down. He gave Dr. Zhang an OK gesture.

Seeing that Gray was ready, Dr. Zhang pressed the power switch of the six machine guns.

The machine guns in the room began making cracking sounds. After adjusting the angle slightly, the machine guns began spraying bullets toward the middle of the room.

The firing speed of these six machine guns was different. Some were slower, some were faster, and their flight trajectories were also different, making people confused. However, their targets were all in the middle of this room.

Gray listened to the sounds and looked around. His gaze moved around the six machine guns. His body kept moving as he pierced through the gaps between the bullets.

During the test, Gray realized that he had a certain sense of crisis. He could even dodge most of the bullets that came from behind. However, maybe because he had not completely adapted to the sudden increase in strength, he was still hit by several bullets.

Time passed slowly. Gray kept flashing in the middle of the room. When it was time, the six machine guns stopped firing. Seeing that the machine guns had stopped, Gray stopped as well.

Sweat continued to come out of his body, and his clothes were completely drenched.

"This test is too tiring. I feel like I've gone through a battle." He relaxed and gasped for air.

At the beginning, he could still persevere and observe the trajectories of every machine gun. However, after his stamina was slowly exhausted, his body could no longer keep up, and he was hit by many bullets.

"In three minutes, our six machine guns fired a total of 1,000 bullets, and you were hit 60 times, and these 60 times were mostly in the second half of the time."

"This result is quite good. This means that when you are in a fight, you can even launch a frontal attack and behead the opponent," Dr. Zhang said to Gray.

"Alright, these three tests are basically it. Gray, you can go back and rest. I need to organize the experiment report and hand it to the higher-ups."

"Zhang, can you carry this experiment in a large number?" John asked Dr. Zhang excitedly after seeing Gray's test results.

If this experiment could be carried out in large numbers, it meant that humans would truly master the way to survive in this changing world. They would no longer be as hopeless as before.

"According to the current experiment data, this method should be possible, but it requires a lot of resources." Then, Dr. Zhang explained to Dr. John the various resources that had changed Gray so much.

"John, I need to go back and organize the data of this experiment. I hope I can come up with a feasible plan as soon as possible."

"Alright, I have to go back and continue my experiments as well." The two of them said goodbye to each other at the entrance of the laboratory.

In this cruel world, researchers were using their own methods to make this world better.

"How's it, Whitey? Is the roasted goat good?" Lorne asked Whitey, who was attacking the roasted goat in front of him.

Clearly, Whitey was busy dealing with the mutton in front of it and had no time to pay attention to Lorne. It only chirped at Lorne half-heartedly while focusing on eating.

Lorne looked at the gluttonous Whitey and felt a little helpless. He shook his head and began to focus on the roasted leg in his hand.

After the strengthening, Lorne's appetite had increased by a lot. He had almost wiped out three quarters of a whole roasted goat. Meanwhile, Whitey was full after eating a few large pieces. Then, they lay on the ground.

After resting for a while, the two of them packed up and continued exploring.

Lorne planned to wander around the city center next. With his current strength, he should be able to escape if he encountered any danger.

Due to the sudden changes in the outside world, Lorne did not drive his truck out this time. Instead, he moved on his feet, so his speed was slower. However, he was definitely much faster than ordinary people.

Furthermore, he could move through some difficult paths which were inaccessible to vehicles.

With his powerful stamina and fast speed, Lorne quickly passed through the forest and arrived near the highway. He strolled along the road with Whitey.

Lorne began to relax when they reached the highway. In the forest, because of the uncertainties of the changing world, he had to brace himself in case of unexpected situations.

However, because the view was wide, he could notice any signs of danger with a slight observation, so there was no issue in moving slowly by foot.

Lorne chatted with Whitey as they moved forward.

Suddenly, he realized that there seemed to be a person lying on the ground in front of him. He quickly walked over.
