"Miss Monroe, what's your relationship with this ring?"
Blake looked at Monroe apprehensively; his emotions were extremely complicated at this point.
Half a day ago, Blake would never have believed that a simple system mission would have caused this many chain reactions!
Now, there was the existence of a demonic being who could potentially end mankind, released by a very important seal which he had already broken unintentionally.
'I knew that this mission wouldn't be so easy…'
Blake sighed to himself, and his expression was seen by Monroe.
'Is this guy afraid?' Monroe thought disdainfully.
No wonder he only has a day left to live.
With such a wimpy character, it would be strange if he could actually come out of this alive.
It seemed that it was impossible to re-seal the Rakshasa with someone like him.
'Sigh, could it be that the opportunity to see the light of day and to escape from this damned place, which I have awaiting for more than a 100 years, is about to be lost?
'Will I have to end up sealing Rakshasa with my soul ring?
'No...
'Elder Moses, you said that as long as I guarded Rakshasa for a 100 years, there would be a new master to bring me out of this place.
'There is indeed a master who has appeared, but...
'This kid's fate is so shallow, not to mention that he is entirely powerless too. There's no way he would be able to seal the demon...
'Sigh, so in the end, I still have to rely on myself?'
Monroe thought gloomily, looking at Blake with disappointment in her eyes. She was too weary to answer the question he had just asked.
She just wasn't satisfied with this person as her master, and Blake could inadvertently feel it.
He did not know what he had done to provoke this red-clothed female ghost that had made her so apathetic towards him.
As he carefully observed her figure, he discovered that Monroe's lower body didn't seem to be materialized, and that same illusion-like part of her body was glowing with a dark green light.
The light was the same color as the ring on his finger.
So...
A bold guess surged into Blake's mind as he raised his eyes toward Monroe.
"Miss Monroe, could it be that you're a wandering soul bound to this ring on my finger? You're the spirit responsible for defending this Moses Magic Formation, right?"
After hearing his words, Monroe's body stiffened and she looked at him in disbelief.
"You... How did you know?"
Monroe had not seen this coming at all. She had been so proud of herself for keeping her identity hidden for such a long time!
She'd told Blake a bunch of secrets about the tomb just to test his patience and see if he could take on the task of sealing Rakshasa's ghost.
She didn't expect his observation to be so keen that he could deduce her identity through only bits and pieces of information!
"Miss Monroe, I'm guessing that even if I didn't open the coffin, the tomb's seal wouldn't have lasted much longer anyway. Otherwise, how could I have broken the 100-year-old seal that easily?
"It couldn't have been possible, but I did. It should be part of the plan of the Moses Magic Formation that you mentioned, right?"
"As the saying goes, break down to build up.
"I released Rakshasa's soul and obtained this ring. This means that it is meant to be used to set up a new seal and trap Rakshasa again.
"Isn't that so?"
Blake told her his analysis through the clues he had obtained from her words.
When Monroe heard his reasoning, she was bewildered.
'This kid... He guessed it correctly!
'He didn't take the bait. He managed to conclude that I have the method to incarcerate Rakshasa!' .
Monroe raised her head and stared straight at Blake, unflinching.
"You've got it right. I am indeed a wisp of a soul that lives in the band around your finger. Opening the coffin was indeed part of Elder Moses' plan, and I do know the method of securing Rakshasa's ghost."
Monroe said indifferently, without a trace of emotion in her voice and face.
When Blake heard this, a grin spread across his face.
'As expected, I guessed it right.
'The system would never randomly give me aimless instructions. .
'However, from the looks of it, the system's assignment doesn't look as simple as spending a night in the cemetery…'
A bitter smile appeared on Blake's face.
After a moment of silence, Monroe decided to tell him the truth.
"Alright, let's get down to business.
"Since you already know that you are part of the mission to incarcerate Rakshasa for good, you will have to be the one to fulfill this task."
Monroe did not give Blake any time to react to her words, because deep down, she did not believe that Blake could defeat Rakshasa.
After all, his fate showed that he only had one day left to live.
She only hoped that this kid would quickly die so she could look for another master with a stronger fate to get on with shutting Rakshasa in this tomb forever. That way, she would be able to escape her destiny of staying in this place and be free!
Monroe did not want to stay as a guardian anymore.
She was tired of lingering in this dark, enclosed site after 100 years; she craved the world outside.
"If you want this plan to work, firstly, you need to get the box in the coffin. It's called Pandora's Box."
Hearing this unfamiliar name, Blake raised his eyebrows and looked into the coffin. "Pandora's Box?" he repeated as he stared at the tool that contained the black mist of Qi.
"Yes, Pandora's Box. It's the magic tool that Elder Moses used to seal Rakshasa. This works against it.
"Hey! Don't move around! This item can only be touched after it's activated. Otherwise, you'll be injured by accident... Huh? Why aren't you affected at all?"
Monroe broke halfway through her sentence as she widened her eyes in horror. She looked at Blake and realized that he had picked it up. She examined his body hurriedly, but he was completely unharmed. This was completely out of her imagination!
Pandora's Box... Only the person it acknowledged would be allowed to touch it, or else, they would experience a burning pain! How could Blake pick it up so easily?
Monroe couldn't figure it out at all, but her jaw dropped when she saw what he did next.
After Blake picked up the box, he chanted an incantation softly, and the magical patterns on the box actually radiated brilliant rays of light!
"It has been activated!" announced Blake.
Monroe stared at him, baffled. "You... Who are you? How were you able to activate Pandora's Box?"
What she didn't know was that the reason why Blake had been able to pick it up so easily was because he realized that the incantation used to activate this was exactly the same as the one for the Ghost-Hunting Compass he had used before!
To be precise, after receiving the Spirit Treasure Guide, he had mastered the usage of all spiritual artifacts in the world.
He could trigger any magic tool at will, and this Pandora's Box was one of them.
"Alright, I've done the first step. What do I need to do next?"
Blake turned his head back and said with a smile, as if this was not a big deal for him at all.
Monroe looked at the frail high school boy standing in front of her, and continued.
"The second step… is to destroy the corpse insects outside. Those bugs are the external manifestation of the strength of Rakshasa. If we wipe them out, Rakshasa's soul power will be weakened, and we can wait for an opportunity to finally seal him."
"Their strength does not solely lie within their numbers, but their offensive power as well. I saw that the humans out there were completely unable to deal with these guys. My suggestion is that you could team up with them and borrow their strength…"
As Monroe was giving her suggestion, halfway through, Blake picked himself off the ground as he patted the dirt off his body.
"Exterminate the corpse worms, right? Sure, leave this to me." agreed Blake, and he headed towards the closed tunnel of the tomb.
He seemed confident and carefree, but Monroe was appalled at his statement.
They were talking about a whole horde of insects out there.
Did he even hear it right?
