Shawn POV
"Hey..." I called and she stared blankly at me.
I dropped the tray on the table and sat on the bed.
"Are you okay?" I inquired.
"No, I'm not. I'm having a headache."
I stood up and went to sit beside her, I checked her temperature and it was burning.
"Oh my goodness!" I exclaimed and gasped. "You should take your bathe and eat something then I'll call the doc."
"I'm not hungry, I've got no appetite."
"Try to eat something even if it's just a spoon or two. I cooked it myself and I'm sure you'll enjoy it."
"I don't feel like eating, but I'll force myself."
I went to get the tray that was on the table and brought it to her. I scooped up some and held it to her mouth.
"Come on," I urged. She hesitated before opening her mouth chewing it slowly.
"Do you like it?" I asked and she nodded.
One thing I noticed about her today was that she was unusually quiet and she avoided eye contact with me. I wasn't comfortable with her behavior.
I'll get to know the reason later.
I kept on feeding her and she kept eating until she stopped abruptly, clutching her stomach, pain etched on her face.
"A... Are you okay?"
She was about to say something when she ran into the bathroom and threw up on the sink. I ran after her and helped her to hold her hair in place so it wouldn't come in contact with the vomit. She rinsed her mouth and the sink then went to the room and lay on the bed, her teeth were chattering.
"Help me to shut the louvers." She pleaded and I did as she said.
"I'll make hot tea for you. While I'm making it, you should have a hot bath, okay?"
"Okay." She whispered and I left for the kitchen.
Minutes later, I was back in her room. She was putting on sweaters, pants, and socks. She laid curled up on the bed. I tapped her and she sat up slowly then I handed her the cup of tea. She took it and started sipping it slowly.
"It's too hot. It's burning my tongue."
"It would help you keep warm, just manage it."
I watched as she sipped it, closing her eyes. When she was done, she gave me the cup and I went to the kitchen to keep it. By the time I was back, she was already asleep.
I felt her body temperature and it was still high, so I used a cloth put in water and put it on her forehead.
Maybe she's stressed out, or she's allergic to seeing someone in a pool of blood.
*************************
Someone knocked on the door. I opened the door only to see that it was the guy from this morning, beaming with smiles.
What was that name of his?
"What do you want?" I asked hoarsely.
"No manners. Can't you at least invite me in?"
"Not until you tell me your mission here."
"Well, first of all, let me introduce myself. I'm Raj, nice meeting you." He said as he brought out his hand for a handshake.
I stared at his hand with contempt.
"If you don't tell me your mission here, I'll close the door on you."
"Okay, okay. Your gateman is dead, so I want to take his place."
"Just like that? You've got no respect for the dead."
I saw concern written on his face for a second before it turned blank.
Maybe I was just imagining things.
"Are you In or not?"
"I'm not. I didn't tell you I needed a gateman, did I? Whereas if I needed one, I can't hire you cos I don't trust you. Not even a single ounce of trust." I said and he frowned.
"You don't need to tell me that you need security personnel before I know. Following what happened last night, you really need someone to guard the house."
"I can't employ someone I don't trust."
"After what I did for you last night? I helped you, didn't I? Why would you repay good for evil?"
"Why do you want to work here?"
"I need money." He explained and I chuckled.
"Bloody liar. Whereas I helped you too by not reporting you to the police." I said and he sighed.
"If I have offended you, I apologize. Honestly speaking, I'm an undercover agent sent to spy on Anas. He's gonna kill you and abduct Priya."
How did he know her name was Priya?
"How did you know that's her name?"
"That's how he addresses her."
"Who's your commander and who sent you?"
"My commander is Balad Singh."
He ain't lying. I know Balad. We've once worked together.
"So... Are you gonna employ me now?"
"If you promise to stay away from Julia then you'll be employed."
"I can't promise you that. Honestly speaking, I like her."
I clenched my fists to stop myself from slapping him.
I attempted to close the door on him but he used his body to prevent it from closing.
"Why don't you employ him?" I heard Julia ask and I turned to face her. Raj seized the opportunity to enter the sitting room and he sat on the couch.
"You ought to be sleeping," I said and she shook her head.
"I've slept enough. I'm no longer having fever, but I'm hungry."
"There's food in the kitchen," I said and she nodded, sat on the couch with her head on the arm.
"You should employ him, he's a good guy."
"My instinct doesn't agree with this."
"But he saved you this morn."
Why doesn't she keep her mouth shut? Raj has a crush on her and she's telling me to employ him.
"Please..." She implored.
Why does she want him to work here? Is there an ulterior motive? Humph.
I sat on the couch and stared at Raj who was staring back at me.
"Fine, but you're not allowed to go beyond this sitting room." He nodded and smirked.
"Thanks, baby." He said and blew Julia a kiss.
In my presence? How dare he!
Julia went to the kitchen to get food while Raj left for his duty post.
Raj POV
I had my work clothes on, then I took my phone and dialed a number.
"Done and dusted," I said immediately he picked the call. He chuckled.
"That's why I love sending you for a mission, always successful. You've done a good job and I'll pay you handsomely."
"Thanks, sir," I said smirking. "So... What else should I do?" I asked and he explained the next plan of action to me.
"When should I carry it out?"
"There's no time, so begin tomorrow. We need to take them off guard before they realize what's going on. But remember, pretend to be friends with them."
