Julia POV
I glanced at Shawn, terrified, and ran down the stairs, to the sitting room then outside while others trooped after me.
I was now at the pool and the water was now polluted with dirt. I wanted to go into the water, but Shawn stopped me.
"Wait." He said and went into the pool.
Seconds later, he came back carrying Poojah and I was shocked.
He lay her on the floor and pressed her stomach continually till she vomited water. But her eyes were still closed.
"She might not survive this because the water is polluted," Shawn said.
"Is she dead?" Ciara asked already sobbing. "She shouldn't die, I didn't apologize to her for what happened earlier."
"She's not going to die," I replied but I wasn't sure if she were dead already. I think I was assuring myself.
"Hospital. Let's take her to the hospital. I said.
"No hospital." He replied.
"Uncle Shawn, we can take her to the hospital so that she wouldn't die," Steve interjected.
"I said no hospital." Shawn barked, then he sighed.
"I didn't see this coming, I was blind." He said and hissed.
"Call the doctor." Mrs. Ashley said.
"Do that immediately," Shawn said to his mother who went into the apartment.
Ciara held Poojah's hand
"Poojah please wake up, I'm sorry for what I did to you earlier on. Please forgive me." She said with a teary voice.
Mrs. Ashley came in some minutes later.
"Who's the girl? How come I've never set my eyes on her before."
"She's Poojah, my twin sister."
"Since when did you have a twin?" Mrs. Ashley asked.
"She was assumed dead, she was stolen from Julia when Julia was in the delivery room. The gateman brought her in almost three days ago thinking she was Ciara." Shawn explained.
"Then how come I know nothing about it?"
"That's because you're always busy or you lock yourself up in your room," Shawn said tersely.
"What happened to her? I heard a bomb blast." Mrs. Ashley asked and Ciara explained everything to her.
"She should die, she wanted to kill us all, right?"
"Why would you say that? Would you love to watch your child get killed? You're cruel."
"H...H...How dare you?" She asked as she raised her hand to slap me, but I held it.
"Don't you dare raise your hand at me. She risked her life and here you're saying she should die. Just listen to yourself. Someone poisoned her mind about us and she was sent to kill us. Do you know how hard it would've been to make such a decision? You're wishing she die? My daughter's death? That's so inhuman of you."
"Have you forgotten that I can send you parking anytime? Don't forget that you're nothing but a maid in this..."
"Enough of this nonsense." Shawn interrupted. "Mom, get inside right now." He said fuming and his mom left not before glaring at me.
I felt bitter. How dare she say that?
The doctor came in and the tense atmosphere was gone. We were now in a room that looked like a ward, like that of a hospital. He checked her pulse and did some other things, then he left.
Different instruments pierced her frail body and she was given oxygen and she was being given a drip. They had all gone to their rooms and I could bet Erastus was in the kitchen, cooking because of the sweet aroma I was perceiving.
I sat on a chair beside Poojah, watching Poojah. Poor girl. She has gone through a lot that's why she was being rude. I don't blame her, not one bit.
My mind went to the argument I and Mrs. Ashley had.
How dare she wish something evil for Poojah. She doesn't know what the girl had gone through and she opened her stinking mouth, ejaculating nonsense.
Shawn didn't talk to me since then, I guess he's angry with me. But it was her fault, I was worried and she was saying hogwash.
What surprised me most was that Poojah changed her mind and didn't do what she was told, although she hated me.
Why does Anas want to kill me? He knows I've got something he wants, yet he wants to kill me. I don't understand, not at all.
The Doctor said her chances of living are slim as she had taken in so much polluted water.
Just then, Shawn walked in, looking infuriated.
"I want to have a word with you."
