Chereads / The All-Lost Magus / Chapter 10 - Birth

Chapter 10 - Birth

It was at this moment, that I was given birth.

Although, to be exact, the term "given birth" wouldn't be completely fitting. After all, I am aware that I have been existing before this, but it was at this very moment, that I was "separated" from what I was and was made to exist on my own.

It's a weird feeling, I was scared, yet at the same time, I felt... free.

But now is not the time for me to deal with my feelings, there's something else I have to first deal with after all.

Turning around, I looked at the thin, black pillar stretching straight into the sky as an ominous dirty-green fog emitted from it, coating the area in a pale green presence.

So it was you, huh?

Do you have any god damn idea that how much suffering have you caused me for the past 4 years?

...On second thought, you probably knew, don't you?

But why?

Why would you do this to a seven years old child?!

What the fuck have I done to deserve this?!

Well guess what, you asshole.

Out of me, NOW!

And NEVER, EVER, COME BACK!

...

Ah... time is up, huh?

So soon? Damn, I was hoping that I could have done more.

Well, it's not like I could have done more anyway.

Guess I'll just have to wait.

Though I couldn't help but wonder, how long will it take for "me" to be waken up?

——

"It's removed?"

"Indeed, just now."

"...That's impossible, it would kill him!"

"But it's true, he's definitely alive."

"...Shit, if he were to..."

"No, he most likely won't. Even if they found a way to remove it, it most definitely will leave irreparable wounds on his system. Not to mention his system has degraded over the years, making it the more the likely being impossible to regain the strength he had. So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you."

"...Let's all hope so.

We can't have another 'prodigy' to get in the way after all."

——

"So, that's how you ended, huh? Percival."

"Percival?"

"Indeed, old friend, he had finally completed his final quest and moved on."

"...I see.

...Did he regret?"

"No, not by a single bit."

"...I think I understand."

"Perhaps you already did. After all, despite both we not being humans. He lived to complete his task, just like you who lived in search of a way to shut down."

"But how about you?"

"Me? My friend, you already knew, don't you?"

"...I still would like to hear you say it."

"I live... I live for responsibility. Which is why I'll never be able to understand you, E-"

"Damien Black."

"...Damien. Ah, but still, such irony. To bear the name of 'Black' for a holy relic like you."

"It was the humans who said I was holy to begin with, I never stated that fact, neither was I programmed to be. There's also the fact that 'Black' is nothing but a family name, it was also humanity who associated it with the concept of evil."

"Well, well. Look who's taking my jokes seriously? Guess we couldn't get along after all. To think you never changed over the past thousand years."

"So did you. Still the same despite everything that happened."

"...Believe me, I've changed.

...I was simply reminded of the old days whenever I'm with you, that's all."
