Chapter 1 - Prologue

It was peaceful dusk with the setting sun vanishing from the horizon, making the clouds radiant with different hues. The salty sea breeze brought by the waves of the ocean and the soft humming sound of the passing birds along with the wilderness of nature were soothingly breathtaking.

It was an example of peace, indeed. It remained still not until the sound of a roaring engine by a vehicle zooming in ruined the ambiance of the place.

A black motorcycle was traveling with an incredible and amusing speed. It was driven by a person wearing a dark blue hooded jacket with a black helmet on. One could say that he was great and very skilled when it comes to driving a motorcycle.

Like a flash of lighting, the motorcycle went past several kilometers and stopped by the side of the warm road near a cliff. The person remained seated on the vehicle for quite some time only gazing ahead before finally deciding to get off while putting the helmet on top of the two-wheeled vehicle.

He stared at the ocean and its shining beauty reflected in his dark irises. With only the sound of the crashing waves below the cliff resounding in the area, he began to walk heading on a forest. A smile crept on his face when he entered the dense area. Walking on a path that he is so familiar with, memories from the not-so-distant past seemed to relive wherever his gaze landed.

'The forest is darker than it was before. The trees became taller and thicker too. Some bushes grew at the entrance that we used to walk over and the once visible path was now covered with grass. The appearance surely is different than before but the presence will always be the same,' he thought with a subtle smile as he continues to wander within the dark and cold woods.

It was hard to see the path but he is certain that the path he's walking leads to the area where he wants to be. It's most likely that he has already memorized every part of this forest like the back of his hand.

With his increasing heartbeat at every passing second, he gradually reached his destination. He pushed the vines aside and passed through it which seemed like entering a portal to another dimension.

The salty gush of wind blew and his dark hair swirled through as he stopped walking and let the air embrace him. The vast ocean greeted him with its sparkling water pleasing his eyes while the sound of the crashing waves from below echoed in his ears. Feeling the cold breeze that's passing his skin gave him chills, but at the same time, he found it so comfortable and soothing.

His eyes became melancholic as he witnessed the sun completely disappearing from his worldview.

He's in his silent sanctuary at the nearest town's boundary right now. Away from the city, noise created by different kinds of machines, traffic that gives headache to every person affected by it, pollution, huge crowd, and other humanity's abomination.

He slowly sat on a rock near the edge of the cliff as he was enthralled by the sight unfolding before him. One by one, his memories from this place resurfaced and a surge of emotions assaulted him making his eyelids close unconsciously to embrace them.

'This was the exact moment when my life changed.'

'That one sunset that made my heart flutter more than ever.'

'No. It was because of that smile and glittering hazel irises.'

'I can still feel her warmth. Even if she wasn't here with me, she still made my heart race inside my chest.'

The bright sun was gone and so as the colorful clouds when he finally opened his eyes. Instead, he was greeted by the dazzling starry night sky that rendered him mesmerized with its beauty.

'It was just like when I first found this place.' He chuckled to himself as a sense of déjà vu dawned on him.

The sea breeze blew and just like the gush of wind, his mind traveled back to the days where this place became a part of his life. A huge piece of his heart and soul was created and remains in this place. He considers this cliff as a sacred area, the resting place of his undying affection.

It's the sole witness of the love shared by two lost souls.

It was the place where he found the meaning of life and living.

A place where he could be free that made him feels to just let everything out without holding back.

'Here, I know that I am free from the problematic and cruel world, away from the judgmental society. In this sanctuary, my burdens are gone, well at least for a little while. This place is so wonderful that it flutters my heart but also slowly tearing it apart.'

He was reminded of the happy moments he had spent in this place but the longer he stays here the more his heart pounds. The longing he felt was starting to be irrepressible.

With a sigh, he stood up from the rock where he was sitting a while ago and brushed off the invisible specks of dust from his pants. He stared at the vast ocean ahead of him that's still sparking due to the starlight's illumination.

He raised his hand towards the night sky, seemingly reaching out for something but to nothing in particular. He then lowered it a few seconds after.

The moon is present, looking magnificent as ever. It has a lonely semblance but when accompanied by the stars, they are emitting a breathtaking sight.

He always enjoyed watching this mesmerizing scenery. He will never be weary of this sight even if he stared at it every night.

The loud crashing sounds of waves hitting the rocks below the cliff was the only thing that's keeping the night from being silent. It was loud but the scream of his heart was even louder.

A soft smile was plastered on his face as he called out the name of the person he was yearning to see with full of warmth.

"Ayesha."

With his eyes shut close and his arms wide open, he embraced the cold gush of wind.
