After taking the elevator up to the right floor, I managed to find the right door to her office. I stand in front of the closed door and begin to panic. How do I know if I'm making the right choice? This is what I wanted, right? No, I have to listen to Dennis. I can't doubt myself. I take a deep breath and raise my right hand to knock on the door.
"Come in!" A voice yells from the other side of the door.
I open the door to see Cecile sitting at her desk going through case files. She looks up at me and smiles.
"Please come and sit down!" she says as she stands up from her desk and closes the case file she was looking at.
I walk in and stop just short of her desk. I reach my hand over and join it with hers in a solid handshake. I sit down in the chair as Cecile does the same.
"So, Aniya right?"
"Yup, that is me." I responded nervously.
I'm sitting on the edge of my seat with my hands overtop of each other on my lap.
"So, why exactly do you want to work here?"
"Well, it's not a simple answer if you want a full one but the short version of it is that I want to help wronged meta-humans and others as well. I believe that there are people out there everyday that need help in a way that the Flash or anyone else can help."
"Really? That's the only reason?"
"What is that supposed to mean?" I say with a slight smile.
I can feel myself getting defensive even though I shouldn't.
"Look, I didn't mean anything by it. I… I just meant that normally people have another reason that they want to do something like this. Like, getting justice for their own case or maybe for someone else's."
"Even if that were the case, which it isn't, I really don't have to tell you that. You are supposed to judge me based on what I know and what I can do."
"Your right but…"
A loud crash outside interrupts Cecile in the middle of her sentence. Both of our heads quickly turn toward the window and we both stand up and rush to it to see what is going on outside. Looking out the window I can see a car with the front completely banged up but nothing seems to be in front of it. After some of the smoke started to clear up I could see something in front of the car. But wait, this couldn't be possible is that…
"A person stopping a car. And causing that much damage. It can't be possible unless…"
"They aren't human."
I turn to look at Cecile and we both lock eyes before I turn back to look out the window. After I turn back she hits her phone screen and a distress alert pops up on her phone as she begins to walk around me and out the door.
"Wait, where are you going?"
"To get people cleared out, they could be attacked if they stay out on the street."
"And so could you."
Cecile stopped just short of the door and turned back toward me.
"I can handle myself until help gets here. Right now those people come first."
Cecile walked out. I followed after not sure what else I should do.
When Cecile and I got downstairs and outside the man was still standing in front of the car. We got down to the street and I realized very quickly that I had no clue what to do. I hold the door open and try my best to yell above all of the screaming to rally people inside.
"Everyone listen to me, get inside now! Help is on the way!" I could hear Cecile shout.
I began doing the same thing even though it seemed like not many people seemed to be listening. I turned my head while moving my arm trying to rally as many people as I could inside the building. When the traffic seemed to stop I turned around but something was wrong.
"Uhh Ms.Horton!"
She turned around and started walking towards me.
"What is it?"
She stopped right beside me and looked at me.
"They guy" I pointed in front of the car "he's gone"
Cecile turned and looked then got closer to the car.
"Maybe we should just go back inside and finish my interview while we wait for help to get here." I laughed nervously.
Cecile didn't seem to hear me. I begin to fiddle with my hands unsure of what to do next or what else I can do to help. I look to the left and see a woman who seems to be panicked. I walk over to her and wave my arms trying to get her attention.
"Hey! Get out of the street! It's not safe!"
The lady seemed to be frozen in fear. I get closer to her when I see the one thing I was hoping not to see. The guy that was missing from in front of the car was now in front of the woman. I stopped unsure of what I should do. Cecile seemed to still be preoccupied by the car. The guy began to move toward her and without thinking I did too. Before I knew It I was standing in front of the woman. Staring her right in the face.
"GO NOW!"
The woman ran off and as I turned around I felt a hit in the stomach. It felt like it went right through me. I feel my body launch back hundreds of feet. I close my eyes, getting ready to hit the ground. But… I never do. I feel a rush of air on my face and an arm behind my back and under my knees. Just as fast as I felt someone grab me we stopped as well. My ears felt like they were ringing and I was out of breath. I could hear a faint voice calling someone but I can't tell who.
"Hey Cecile!"
Cecile looks up to see a familiar face standing next to me.
"What's her name? Do you know it?"
"Its Aniya, Aniya Mathews, she's 17."
"Aniya, can you hear me, Aniya!"
I hear the voice change from saying something else to what sounds faintly like my name. I turn my head toward where it sounds like the voice might be coming from. I step back in chock as I see a man in a red suit and lighting bolt on his chest and golden boots. The Flash.
"Hey, it's ok. You're okay. I need you to stay here ok?"
I nod my head still in shock. With a trail of yellow and red lighting trailing behind him he runs off to where the guy was standing when he punched me. Cecile runs over to me to make sure I'm ok but I can still barely hear what she is saying. So I try to focus on the Flash instead.
"Hey, I hear you're causing a lot of damage."
The mane stays in place, searching around him looking for something but I'm not quite sure what.
"Hey! Are you even listening to me?"
The guy continues to look around, still searching for something.
"Okay, now you're starting to piss me off."
"Just put the meta cuffs on him while he's distracted." a voice pops in on the comms.
Allegra Garcia. Former convict released. She has meta powers that allow her to manipulate the light spectrum. She gained her powers during the explosion of the particle accelerator while in prison. She is now happy while working side by side with the Flash to stop crime while also working as a journalist at CC Citizen media. She is also in love with another team member named Chuck but you don't know that yet.
"Sounds like a good idea to me."
The Flash takes steps toward the guy. Without missing a beat, when the Flash gets close the man turns and looks him directly in the eye. In one swift motion the man pushes his hand out and sends the Flash flying back, crashing into cars parked on the street.
"What I'm doing doesn't concern you Flash. I'm looking for someone and I won't stop until I find them. And if you get in the way I will make sure you don't survive."
Flash began to attempt to move. As he tried to get up the man standing about 30 feet from him bends his arm at the elbow so that his hands are at his waist with palms facing the ground. In one swift motion he pushes his arms toward the ground and launches himself into the air until he can no longer be seen. The Flash manages to stand up after getting off of the cars but he seems to not have his balance back just yet. This just had to happen today.
