From afar the soldiers saw the silhouette of a huge tree brimming with life. Yes, a tree! The tree is huge brimming with life, many millions of years went by but this tree is standing strong and tall, holding civilizations on its mighty roots.
This is the world tree, the very tree that is written in many legends from different worlds. The elven race started as a bunch of loose tribes that thrive around this very tree.
Several million years ago when the world is still young, invaders came and wreaked havoc in this world. The tree remained solid and held the weight of the world carrying the civilization of these elves.
The first king of the elves was born, during this invasion. He conquered all the tribes and led the elves and ended the war that made trillions suffer.
The tree became the elves empires foundation, beneath this mighty tree the civilization prospered and is now the empire that all adored and worshipped Hestia.
...
Looking at the world trees silhouette growing bigger the soldiers know that they are nearing their capital.
The elite elven soldiers parade on the wide streets of the empires cities. It's still a million miles from the center but the tree looks very big even in this distance.
The synchronized marching of the soldiers is like music to the ears, there is no sign of being offbeat, the soldiers are very disciplined. Within the cities they would slow down their pace, and move at break neck speed while they travelled outside the cities.
...
The total population of the elves numbered to a trillion. But in this vast world, their population is like a drop in the bucket. Compared to the humans, magical beasts, and other races they are considered as a minority.
Despite their small numbers, a single elf soldier is compared to a thousand elite human soldiers. This is not an overstatement, since elves are innately gifted with a strong physical prowess and a strong affinity to nature, thus they are all gifted in magic.
However, despite their strength, their fertility is low. It would usually take hundreds and thousands of years before a married couple could give off offspring.
The first king made a rule of intermarriage between different tribes. Many were against this at first which almost led to a civil war that might destroy their race, however, due to the strength of the first king he was able to subjugate the perpetrators and prevent the bloodshed.
Intermarriage is a taboo to elves who are mostly purists, but the first king knew that if this tradition continues, they will face extinction. A pure-blooded elf will have a hundred percent affinity to their element, however, once intermarriage is practiced the affinity is lessened.
The first king didn't falter with his decision and they found out a way to maintain their strong affinity with the elements. That is to match elves with higher level of cultivation, the higher their cultivation levels are the stronger the new generation will be. But the difficulty of having a child is a hundred to a thousand times more difficult than it was before.
The child born through this method has a higher chance of mutation and would develop high affinity to several elements. After millions of year's and several intermarraige the race that was once of pure affinity to a single element became a mixed affinity race.
With the use of the world trees nectar that is harvested every thousands of year's, their bloodline is strengthened and the different affinities synchronized, and the elves evolved. This made the elves sense different elements and like humans, they could specialize in the element that they are most proficient in.
Not only that the elves were further strengthened and their bodies evolved and became stronger physically, but they are also like a weaker version of the asura race, where their physical bodies are as sturdy as a weapon, more resilient than an armor. His decision made the race prosper and survive to this day.

Cheers covered the side of the roads, girls who are bolder would express their affection to these soldiers.
"Mister soldier, please be my husband!" A young and beautiful elf cried
"Make babies with me soldier boy!" A slutty elf shouted,
"No he is mine, marry me and I will give you as many babies you want!" the elf close to the last one argued
The soldiers kept their formation and looked straight not bothered by the crowd's cheers.
"I want to be a soldier just like them, when I grow up" a young boy looked at the marching soldiers with reverence
An old elf who stood by the boy, held his grandchild's head, and said "you need to work harder, I and your father are proud so soldiers of the empire, we might have retired but as I look at this soldier's March, reminds me of the old days" the old elf stayed silent as he day dreamed of the old days
This is the same welcome that this soldiers received with every city and town they would pass by.
The men marched their way to be center of the continent, it was the elven race capital Hestia.
