Shin was staring at Ayase, who had her face stiff. He also felt something wrong with her. "Are you fine? You're kind of... Frozen."
Laggardly, Ayase glimpsed at Shin. "In this forest, it has a supernatural phenomenon that nullifies all activities of Auras, am I correct?"
Shin nodded at Ayase. "Yeah, any activities such as Aura Materialization and Aura Circulation. You can't do those here so, if you can't do them, then your Aura is totally useless."
Ayase looked at her front. "Magical Artifacts are tools that are helpful to us. Neither money nor electricity is needed. Despite that, there's just one thing that is necessary to activate this thing." With her eyes closed, Ayase inhaled some air and let it all out with an exhale.
"It is Aura, isn't it?" Shin asked Ayase with a straightforward look stuck on his face.
Ayase opened her eyes once more. "Unfortunately, it is. In this field, this Spatial Necklace is just as worthless as the Drive Serpents' ambush earlier."
Ayase cast her eyes again at Shin. "Nevermind that. How did you guess it right? You're good at making hypotheses. You can become a researcher." She giggled.
"Well, you're quite open. Your face is easy to read, so I can literally guess what will you gonna say." Shin quit staring at her. He tried looking at the sky, but it was covered with the leaves of trees.
"Although I'm always good to go, I somewhat feel lazy and sleepy right now." Shin gradually closed his eyes, being kind of sleep-deprived.
"Rest here for a while. I'll just go take a look at that lake over there. I'm just like going there to see my reflection." Ayase stood up and cheerfully ran towards the woods. She was gone in his sight.
'I believed all of the Feral Beasts here were just introverted creatures.
First, they are not ganging up according to the data allotted inside my grandfather's books. Second, they are into cannibalism. In this area, it is full of low-quality essentials. They could only rely on other animal's flesh, including their folks. It is not even suitable for the likes of them.
Maybe those data were just in the past... But still, why would the Drive Serpents banded themselves against us? They don't have that much intelligence unless there is some kind of work of an animal royalty here,' Shin thought while his eyes were still closed.
'Where was Ayase going again? Ahh... I recalled it. It's the lake over there, she said. Wait... I knew that there's no lake in this area.' Shin instantly opened his eyes.
Shin stood up and jogged around without knowing Ayase's whereabouts. Yet, he fell to the ground. 'Cussed it! I tripped! I'm old enough to not trip. It's reassuring that there's no anybody here.' The expression of relief was etched on his face.
Shin stayed on the ground as rocks near him started moving side-to-side, as well as him, who was in a prone position. 'Tremors? The ground is shaking right now?'
"HAAAAH!" A familiar scream of someone was suddenly uttered out of nowhere.
'Ayase?' Shin tried on pushing his body upwards to get up, but he just noticed that there was someone observing him.
