Chapter 7 - Just like an egg in the oven

During the night, Jason woke up and saw Ian lying on his bed with his mouth full of crumbles and his hand in a bag of Doritos frog flavour. He couldn't sleep that night because the sense he awakened, was giving him a big headache. He went to the bathroom to check his state and if anything was wrong, but he looked healthy.

' Mmff, this power I have discovered, it's so strong...' He thought while touching his forehead to check if he had a fever. 'I never thought I would be drained so much of my energy, I think that's what is giving me such pain. I hate to admit it, but I worked too much today...'

Suddenly, his phone started ringing, and when he checked who it was, it was Chris Hanfield calling him for the first time since Jason asked him to train him. He was wondering why Chris would call him at such a late time, so he assumed he was calling for something important.

"Hey Hans, how you doing?" Jason said once he answered the phone.

"I'm doing good, just called to learn about your training, how's it going?"

"I've progressed in the past 5 days, I just learnt how to control my elemental. It was hard, but it's been giving me a headache since..." Jason was going downstairs at the same time, looking for some drugs to calm the pain."

"Well, I won't disturb you anymore, just get a good night sleep for tomorrow's training "

Before Jason could respond, he already cut the line. 'Must be too busy as usual' Jason thought, however, he still appreciated the phone call because he felt that Chris cared about him, although he was a busy man.

Jason took a few drugs to calm his headache and went back to sleep. The next day, he woke up, and his headache was gone, 'Those drugs sure did work well...' He thought when taking his towel to go and get ready for training. Ian was already gone for his training and Jason admired how committed he was to get better.

Once Jason was done getting ready, he ate breakfast and the moment he was about to leave, Tornado was already at the door in her car.

"You're already here? I was about to walk to the lake" he said while hopping in the car.

"We are not going to the lake, but we are going to the forest. The flow of energy is more natural easier to sense when you are in nature," she said with her legs crossed and her glasses on.

This time, they went further than expected. The trip took 2 whole hours to get there, and once they arrived at their destination, Tornado's assistants took lots of materials that made it look like they were going camping.

"Well then," Tornado said with a German accent, "Follow me."

Tornado walked through the large trees and the wild bushes as if she knew the place by heart. At one point she stopped in a place where there were no trees about 15 to 20 meters away. When Jason entered the area, he felt an immense rush of energy flow through him as if it was about to explode. Due to the pressure, his energy was running away, so he fell to his knees.

"What the f**k is going on?" he asked while he was struggling to stand up.

"The first time I came to London, a friend made me visit this place. I felt how sacred this place was because of all the energy around it. Training here will not only help you control your energy but will also increase your energy storage."

"The only problem is, I can't move an inch because of the energy pressure here... It's unbearable!" he grunted while he forced himself to sit down legs crossed.

"The only clue I can give you is, imagine you put an egg in the microwave, and you heat it. At one point, the heat might make the egg explode, or, you will be able to find the right temperature to keep it heated, but not at a point it might explode. You will stay here until you manage to don't your energy, plus, it's not like you will be able to go anywhere hahaha! Tornado laughed while seeing him not even able to move his finger.

"But if I don't succeed I will starve to death!" Jason yelled out in horror, by Tornado was already long gone.

'Maybe it wasn't a good idea to put him through such a hard test, but If my theory is correct, he won't fail. He doesn't know it yet, but he can already control his energy without knowing... All he had to do is learn how to control it with his own will' She thought while walking back to the car. She planned on staying for a whole 5 days and see if Jason would be able to pass the test Tornado gave him.

Meanwhile, Jason managed to close his eyes after a few minutes of trying, and he concentrated. It wasn't like he never felt this sensation before, it was just that he never felt it at such a high amplitude.

'All I must do is decrease the energy I am receiving and releasing. It is all a question of quantity.' Jason told himself.

For the next 10 hours, he was trying to feel and control the energy flowing through him in vain. Another 5 hours passed and finally, he could feel a little tingle. It was like he managed to absorb more energy than he released at his own will. Jason tried it again, but instead of absorbing more, he released more, and he succeeded.

'Now, what I must do now is manage to control the amount of energy I absorb and release.' He told himself before breathing deeply.

A whole day and a half passed and he could feel he started to understand how to control energy better. It was just about releasing as much energy as you receive. but doing that at the same time was very hard. The third day arrived and that is when Jason started to feel hungry. Usually, a blessed person receives a boost in everything, such as strength, speed, but also it increased how long you could stand without waiting or drinking. Normally, a normal human being would not last more than 3 to 4 days without water, but an elemental user can last 8 days without drinking anything.

So Jason was still able to survive two days or more without water or food. In the afternoon of the third day of his training, he managed to balance both his release and absorption of energy, so he was now able to stand up and move freely. When he stood up, he stretched a bit, but there was something he didn't understand. 'Why was it that no one knows about this place?' he asked himself.

Before going back to the car, he took advantage of his loneliness to explore the woods... He then met with a bear. The bear seemed like he was busy scratching his back on a tree trunk to notice Jason, but there was one thing he noticed when the bear was scratching his back. He abstained from scratching harder in fear of hurting himself.

'It's the same things for us if you use our energy over its limit, he gonna die...' Jason told himself while looking at the splendid animal scratching his back.

"What a beauty..." Jason said while admiring the animal. He then heard the voice of Tornado who was calling him and he rushed towards the voice's direction. He later found Tornado, and they both headed back to the car.

"I'm gonna be honest with you Cooper, I never thought you would make it, but you did, so congrats!" Tornado said while giving him a pat on the back.
