Chapter 1 - Memories

Help! Help! Help! I am hearing a loud scary cry as I stroll along the river banks. As I continue walking, I finally found where the scream is coming from. A boy. Drowning, struggling and fighting for his life. My 7 year old instinct rushed to rescue, but the water is too deep. I head back to find something that could help him get off the waters. I saw vines dangling a large tree. I pulled and pulled until one long vine dropped in front of me. I rushed and throw the vine towards the boy. After a few tries, finally he was able to grab it so I used all my strength to pull him. Boy he's heavy! A sigh of relief, he got out of the waters. Then he looked at me and says "Thanks". A few minutes passed as we rest, he said, "By the way, my name is Ramon. What's yours?" With heavy slow breathing I responded, "I'm Theresa". We smiled to each other and talked a little.

Chatting along the way, another boy appeared, grasping and shouting. Ramon, Ramon! When he saw us, he said "Ramon, are you alright? I cant find anyone so I rushed to come back." Ramon replied, "That's alright, she helped and saved me. Her name is Theresa." Then Ramon introduced me to the boy. "By the way, Theresa, this is my best friend Carlos, Carlos this is Theresa." From then on we three were inseparable. Playing, singing, dancing, such wonderful times.

Time flew very fast and I found myself crying and feeling helpless. Ramon, I will wait for you. Come back soon! Ramon, also crying, head out of the car window and waved at me saying "Wait for me, I'll come back for you no matter what!" As I head back, I saw Carlos sitting and crying too. The two of us held each others hand and promised that we will wait for our Ramon.

Carlos was rushing and gushing... "Theresa, my Dad got promoted as a General in the army. We are now packing to live within the Military headquarters!" I felt sudden sadness and my knees are trembling. Why? Why are they leaving? Cant you not go?, I ask Carlos. He then sat down frowning! My whole family is moving there, he said! that's the last time I saw Carlos. Friends leaving sucks!
