I walked to the kitchen. Opening the cabinets, looking for something to eat. Today I had to go to the arena. I was instructed to find others like me... Elementals... People who were infused with elements. It was my assignment to find the ones who aren't fake. Elementals don't use magic to control the elements... They are the elements. Forming and summoning their own element as they please, without depleding their mana. And I could not do that on an empty stomach. Not eating would probably end in me being humiliated, as my stomach tried to sing opera only to sound like a whale.
I grapped a piece of dried meat and a piece of bread that was left over from yesterday. As I gobbled down my breakfast, I read through my book again. Revising everything I could find about elementals. I needed to be extremely cautous today. Any mistakes could lead to a elemental being missed and a faker being taken in by my guild.
There isn't much openly shared knowledge on elementals. The churches keeps most of the knowledge away from the public, and the only real way to get any trust worthy information is being important in society, being a holy knight or even royalty ect. Corruption is everywhere and this city isn't any better. Ofcourse I could've tried to bribe someone to give me the information but I don't have nearly enough money and the chance of me ending up in prison is too high. Even if I'm an elemental myself. I copied every single piece of trustable knowledge I could find, on elementals, into this book. This book is my lifes work. Ok, not my whole life but my life since I found out I was an elemental.
