Chapter 5 - Warden's Chase!

Part 18: Escape from the Warden's Grasp

As the ground quivered beneath them, Kenji and Kira stood paralyzed with fear. The ominous growl of the awakened Warden reverberated through the air, shrouding them in darkness. The Warden's presence was overwhelming, its proximity obscuring their vision and rendering them virtually blind.

"Ohh! no, the Warden spawned..."

"Because of me..."

"Because of me the Warden spawned, now what should we do...?"

Kira, knowing her sprinting towards the Ancient City awakened the Warden thought to herself. Not knowing what their next step shall be.

Their hearts pounded in their chests as they struggled to remain still, knowing that any sound or movement could give away their position. The Warden, a blind but formidable adversary, relied on its heightened sense of smell to locate its prey. The very air seemed to carry an electric charge as the Warden sniffed the surroundings, its intentions clear: to track them down.

Kenji's mind raced, formulating a plan in the midst of the chaos. With the Warden's acute sense of smell, staying hidden was their only hope. He motioned to Kira to follow him, their movements slow and deliberate, their bodies crouched low to minimize any noise.

"Listen, Kira I have a plan that should work..."

"But we'll only need it if the Warden is following us, if not we can safely get out of here..."

Kenji said to Kira. Instructing her and trying to calm her down.

As they crept away from the Warden's immediate vicinity, a spark of inspiration struck Kenji. He reached into his inventory and retrieved a snowball, hurling it to a distant location. The snowball hit the ground with a soft thud, generating a noise that drew the Warden's attention away from them.

"Nice! this actually works..."

"Now let's get out of here, Kira"

Kenji said.

"Yes!"

Kira replied.

Part 19: Warden Spawned Again!

With the Warden diverted, Kenji and Kira continued their painstaking retreat from the Ancient City. Their escape seemed promising until, unexpectedly, another Skulk Shrieker was triggered, shattering the silence once more. Panic surged through them as the realization struck—another Warden was about to manifest, and this time, perilously close.

"Ohh! no... Ohhhh! no, another Warden will spawn what do we do now..."

Kira said while panicking.

"Calm down! Calm down! don't panic remember the Warden can't see so it's not much difficult to run from it."

"And that's what will do."

Kenji said, with a serious look in his face.

Part 20: Escape...

The ominous darkness that heralded the Warden's arrival surrounded them once again, suffocating their senses. Kenji's heart raced as he assessed the situation. The Warden had appeared directly in their path, an insurmountable obstacle blocking their route to safety.

With no time to spare, Kenji's mind raced for a solution. The Warden's raw power and resilience made a direct confrontation futile, and their only recourse was to outsmart it. He motioned to Kira, urgency evident in his eyes, as he grabbed another snowball from his inventory.

Kira understood Kenji's intention and nodded back with agreement. Taking a deep breath, Kenji hurled the snowball as far away as he could, hoping to lure the second Warden away just as they had done with the first. Their hopes hinged on the Warden's keen sense of smell and the distraction it might provide.

As the snowball sailed through the air, they held their breaths, their hearts pounding in sync with the seconds ticking away. The Warden, drawn by the noise, turned its focus in the direction of the snowball's impact. Kenji and Kira took advantage of the diversion, moving swiftly and quietly away from the Warden's reach.

"run..."

"run..."

"run, but don't make noise..."

"run as fast as you can Kira..."

Kenji said.

The seconds stretched into eternity as they retreated, praying that their ruse would hold long enough for them to escape the Warden's grasp once and for all. The darkness that surrounded them was a constant reminder of the perilous situation they found themselves in, their lives hanging in the balance.
