Chapter 43 - Uchiha Suke and Kushina

With a thunderous slam, the door closed.

Uchiha Suke stared at the shut door, a look of confusion etched on his face. Yet, he didn't leave immediately. Instead, he listened to the muffled sounds of choking from behind the door and glanced down at his hands.

His palms were slightly red, and a few strands of crimson hair clung to his clean, slender fingers.

*Did I accidentally pull it out while holding Kushina's head?*

*Or... was it when I pulled her hair?*

Uchiha Suke couldn't recall clearly. After all, such details seemed insignificant in that moment. As for the redness of his palms, he was somewhat surprised. Perhaps he'd pushed Kushina too hard unconsciously.

The village was noticeably quieter due to the ongoing Third Shinobi World War. Compared to the peaceful days, Konoha was much colder. With most ninjas deployed to the front lines and civilians occupied with logistics, there were few people on the streets at night. Only the soft chirping of cicadas and the dim glow of streetlights filled the air.

Feeling the cool breeze on his face, Uchiha Suke sat on the edge of the cliff, indifferent to the war. It wasn't his turn to fight yet. Konoha would always retain some strength, and he happened to be part of the village's guard. Besides, he wasn't a weak time traveler struggling to survive. With his Mangekyō Sharingan and its powerful abilities, he had no need to worry.
