Chapter 22 - The Book of the Known Undead

"For a Necromancer, death is not the end but the beginning. Death leads to rebirth in forms stronger than one can imagine. There are thousands of undead beings that could shake the earth to its core, and a Necromancer's job is to be their king."

"Necromancy is a power that requires focus, dedication, and a willingness to progress no matter the cost. It is not a road one may start upon then walk away from. It will always be with you, and you will never be able to forget it."

"Many Necromancers have tried to get rid of the power, no longer wanting the secrets hidden within, and this caused them to become the very undead they once controlled. The power that a Necromancer commands will fight against the Necromancer if they refuse to use it. It demands to be used. Necromancy is one of the few powers that has a two-way link. Respect it, or you will die."

"As you grow in strength, this tome shall reveal deeper secrets for you to learn. As of now, you are too weak to learn anything. You have yet to activate your necromancer's crystal, therefore you are not ready. Once it activates, simply imbue some of its energy into this book and its secrets shall be revealed. The more energy you imbue into the book, the more is shown to you."

Ojero was still staring at the book, his mind in turmoil. Too much had happened to him today, and he had to return back to his world. He had yet to process the undead creature, and now he has to deal with the fact that he is a Necromancer, one of the most hated types of magic.

Shaking his head to clear those thoughts, Ojero stood up with the book.

'How do I get home from here?'

"Hello? Can I be returned to my world? Is anyone out there?"

Ojero spoke out, hoping that there was something out there that would return him to the academy. He had a lot to think about, and not enough time to do it.

As he was thinking, he felt a headache coming. It grew in pain, and soon his entire vision was rocking. Ojero started stumbling around while clutching his head, wondering what was going on. Before he could do anything to stop it, he fell onto the hard floor and passed out.

Professor Erica's Point of View

The chill was felt across the arena, but due to everyone being in their separate domains, no one felt it besides Erica. As quickly as it came, it left. This confirmed Erica's suspicions.

'A familiar had summoned someone here, and sent them back. The chill makes me fear what kind of domain that child had to endure.'

Each domain was different, and had different feelings to it. A domain of holiness and light would give feelings of joy and happiness when inside them, but dark and evil domains always had a chill. Not the kind that makes you cold, but the kind that feels wrong. The kind that makes you feel fear.

These domains were rarer, and harder to find. Many mages dedicate their lives to search the Elemental Domain and find these dark locations, hoping to figure out how to eradicate them. However, their corruptive nature makes this harder than it sounds.

Although she was worried, there was nothing Erica could do. It's impossible to find out who the person was until she saw everyone's familiar, but even then it would be difficult to tell between them. Just because one looks evil doesn't mean it is. The laws in the Elemental Domain are different from theirs.

'Just because they have a dark familiar doesn't mean the child is bad anyway... At least, I hope not.'

Although the professor tried to console herself, she couldn't help but grow even more worried. A bad student can cost the lives of many others. Dark familiars were typically stronger due to them not having any grievance of slaughtering thousands of other familiars and absorbing their power.

She took deep breaths, calming herself. After the recent attacks across the continent, the Kingdom couldn't deal with a rogue mage.

Although they were not common, rogue mages did pop up every decade or so, and were always a nation-wide issue. Magic can be used to cause problems across a nation quickly, and force the rulers into decisions that could cost many more lives.

Currently, the Everentile Empire was dealing with one such rogue mage, but they have it even worse, due to it being a time mage. The mythic rarity of the magic correlates to its potential destructive power, and makes it so catching the mage is almost impossible. Thousands of men were sent to catch the rogue mage, yet so far none has found any clues to his location.

Erica started to walk between the various students laying on the ground, watching them sleep so peacefully. It gave her some hope. She even saw a few laying on each other, which made her chuckle.

The walk took her mind off things, but the seed of doubt was planted, and would stay there for a long time.

The Book of the Known Undead

Chapter 1: Skeletons

Skeletons are the most basic type of undead, and one of the most common. They are humanoid in shape, and are bound together with dark energies. They are created from a mostly intact human skeleton, and can follow basic commands.

Their danger level is low, due to their inability to wield advanced weaponry. Their main use is in wave assaults, making the skeletons soften up an enemy before sending in stronger undead. They are very easy to summon from the dark domains, and require little energy to sustain.
