"Laya… I didn't try to take advantage of you. You are screaming in your dream that saying my mom was going to burn your legs. I patted you and made go back to sleep.
"And as for husband rights…. I just want to take care of you," Rahul said with a disappointed look on his face.
That's when the flashes of the scenes of her midnight came into her mind.
Indeed he was right. She let her tongue loose at him.
"I am sorry," she said.
Rahul was surprised at her words. He didn't expect but still, this warmed his heart.
"Only for this misunderstanding. But not for the other things," she said trying to maintain a hard face.
"Don't forget how you took advantage of me before our marriage and how you fooled around me during the… *cough* three days in my home," she said lowering her head feeling embarrassed.
Rahul opened his eyes wide at her.
Hey… wait… Was she blushing?
He chuckled at her.
"Don't chuckle!" she snapped. He tried to hide his smile but failed.
Forgetting about her injury, she tried to lift her right hand. But the moment she lifted the skin scraped and few blood drops slipped from her wounds and appeared on her hospital gown.
"Hiss…" she hissed in pain.
"What happened?" he asked.
"You placed your hand on the wound in the whole night and the wound …" she didn't continue her words. She knew he wasn't a fool to understand the remaining words.
"I am sorry. I don't know it. I did unknowingly," he apologized.
"You hurt me unknowingly far many times," she said.
Laya tried to roll up her sleeves to see the wound, she saw the blisters were burst open and the blackened skin was removed from her wounds. It looked quite scary on her arm.
"I will call a nurse," he said.
Laya said nothing.
Rahul left to call the nurse to take care of the wound.
After seconds of his departure, her ward door burst opened.
"Laya… did he take advantage of you? Are you hurt?" Arjun asked.
"What happened to your hand?" Durga asked.
They both were breathless for some reason.
"Chill. What will happen to me in a single night? And my mother-in-law is not even here apart from my nightmares," she said.
Rahul and Durga heaved a sigh.
"Did he force you?" Arjun asked.
"No," she said.
"Then earlier?" he trailed.
"It's a misunderstanding," she said.
"How do you know?" Laya asked suddenly.
"I heard it accidentally," Arjun said as he scratched his head.
Laya said nothing.
"I am tired," she said trying to shoo them away.
Arjun and Durga were about to leave the ward. They saw Rahul was bringing a nurse and a doctor.
"Doctor, check… those blisters. Even after three days, they don't show any signs of healing," Rahul said.
"It will take time. Burnt wounds take more time than any other wounds," he said.
"Did you hit your hand to the wall or what?" he asked Laya.
"No… Doctor," she said.
"Then how…. Looks like someone held you here. The blisters are burst open. You need to stay up here for another two days. After that, you can heal your hand at home," he said.
Laya closed her eyes tightly when she heard his words. The doctor cleaned the pus and blood from her wounds. After that, he applied for the medicine and wrapped it up.
"Doctor… I need to ask something," Laya said.
"Everyone….leave apart from the doctor," Laya said. Seeing their look she said to them, "I want to ask about my periods and stuff. If you want to listen stay up and listen!" she said in her loud voice.
That was enough for them to leave the ward.
"Say it," the doctor said.
"Sir, Can you discharge me when I am completely fine. I don't want to go back to the hell with my wounds," Laya said to him lowering her head.
[I am sorry, Rahul. I have no choice.] She mumbled to herself.
"These wounds are reopened by my husband," Laya added clutching her hospital gown.
"I will take care," the doctor said. He felt sad for Laya. Even in the hospital he was torturing her and acts as he cares about her. Even though he felt sympathy for her, he could do nothing to her. After all, he was an outsider. And Laya said by herself that she wanted to stay. Which means they were paying money. He will increase the stay time.
"I will tell them… you are traumatic and stressed," he said.
Laya nodded.
"Sir?" she called again.
"Yes," he asked.
"Can you send someone to deliver food to me?" she asked.
Doctor's eyes flickered at her words. Normally, families get food for the patients but here she was asking them to provide food. It's not that they don't provide food, it's just surprising to him.
"Your husband and your parents are getting you food," he said once when he was coming on rounds he saw them carrying a big carriage.
"I am afraid of eating food by him and them," she said.
The doctor said nothing and nodded his head.
"Anything?" he asked.
"Can you tell them they shouldn't meet me all the time?" she said.
"Fine," the middle-aged doctor said.
"Is that all?" he asked. She nodded.
"Doctor, Thank you," she said with a slight smile yet a weak smile.
The middle-aged doctor's features filled with worry but he couldn't do anything but giving her comfort she asked during her time of stay in the ward.
The doctor spoke to her family members and asked them not to visit her. He asked them not to visit her, also said that they should let her eat the food given by the hospital which was made according to the diet. Also… informed them about her elongated stay.
The doctor sent food to Laya with the nurse and let her knew that he did what she asked for.
Laya was back to her lonely self, a peaceful self. She was relived with her things now. But her future was questionable. Laya got discharged after
