RB Chapter 65 Lisa's Demise
Eric kept his focus on the two combatants. His eyes were flickering.
Multiple cracks were being created on the top of the building with every attack.
But he didn't have time to worry about whether the ceiling would collapse!
His left arm, which had been hanging by the side of his body, started vibrating, specifically the palm. He had aligned his fingers in the form is a blade and it was minutely vibrating, creating electric arcs.
"Yaaah!" The soldier ant launched a ferocious punch after storing enough kinetic energy! That was Eric's chance!
He moved, accelerating from rest in an instant! The next time his form appeared, it was by the right side of the ant.
Its eyes widened unbelievably so, but it didn't have any time to react! Eric breathed in a mental sigh of relief upon seeing that Chloe was in the midst of dodging the punch.
A fiery glow appeared around his palm as he chopped towards the right arm of the ant!
The electrical arcs merged with the superheated air, near the skin of his palm, causing the fiery glow to turn bluish!
The prized armor of the ant heated up the moment the edge of his palm came near and sliced through the entire arm like tofu!
Chloe escaped by a hair's breadth, as the entire arm had accelerated upon being chopped off and crashed into the ceiling causing a deep hole its width.
"Aaaaaaaah!!!" The soldier ant shouted in pain upon backing off! Its top upper right hand had been chopped off near the elbow and the cut was charred. It was wafting a tantalising aroma!
The soldier ant directed its eyes towards Eric's left arm while shouting in pain. Dread and fear were all that could be seen in its eyes upon seeing the hot mass enveloping the palm.
'Haaaaa...I should have gone for the head, but its danger instincts could still have allowed it to dodge.' He lamented as he looked at it.
"Hoh! You have come up with a brilliant idea! Let me try it too!" Chloe shouted in excitement!
"Wait! This is dangerous!" Eric hurriedly tried to dissuade her. Right now his palm was in immense pain! He was simply gritting his teeth to prevent himself from shouting!
The high temperature was burning his skin and if he kept it up longer, his entire palm might turn to ashes!
Bursts of steam inundated the area surrounding his palm when the rain drops pelted into the plasmic layer shrouding his palm. Chloe was looking at it with novelty! It was something that she had never thought of doing!
'It looks like I should cease toying with these two or else I might lose my life here! The queen only has the two of us, so I can't die here! I need to hurry up and go back to protect her!' Soldier one's eyes flickered.
'But is it worth it to show my true form and fight someone on my Queen's side? Besides, my target was only Baguma.'
A slice of the air caused the two people to drop their chatter and adopt combat ready positions.
Their eyes widened when they saw what the ant did next!
It simply jumped off the edge of the building!
"Hmmm!?" Such a sound leaked from Eric's lips. He looked at Chloe beside him and found that she was also looking back at him with a puzzled expression.
He raced towards the edge and only managed to glimpse a shadow vanishing below. The rain had dropped visibility.
'He ran? But why?' Eric wondered.
"Siiiiiiii..." He sucked in a deep breath and hurriedly deactivated the plasma by disabling the rubbing of the electrocytes on the surface of his skin.
The plasma cooled down fast, but not before some of it dripping on his palm and eliciting a wince from him. The electrical field surrounding the palm had been keeping the plasma from coming into contact with his skin, but now that it had deactivated, such were the results.
"So, it ran! But I don't think it feared us!?" Chloe's voice came from beside him.
"It doesn't matter! We have saved Lisa. Now all I need is to get her out of the building."
"Are you really going to save her after those words?" Chloe tilted her head.
"It doesn't matter! I am only saving her because of Baguma and Elec, they..." He sighed without finishing.
He turned around and walked towards the house.
"If you take one more step towards me, I will kill myself!" A voice came from the speakers causing him to stop in place.
"I came here to save you! I can't allow you to die! I have a duty to them...to protect you!" Eric lost it this time and shouted! Though he still stopped in place.
"Duty? Hahahahahahaha...I don't care! Call some people! I don't want you yo come near me!" Lisa shouted.
"Why? Why can't I save you?"
"Because I hate you! If I stay with you, I will always be reminded of my son! Besides you were the only survivor! How can I know that you didn't kill them?"
Eric lowered his head and scratched at his hair with his only arm scattering rain drops. He was frustrated!
"Why don't you tell her what happened?" Chloe said from behind.
"If I told her what exactly happened, there is even less of a chance that she would believe me." He said.
"What do I do? What do I do?" As Eric was furiously trying to think up something, a sound drew his attention.
A crack, one of the many which had been formed during the battle, widened!
Eric's eyes widened and he instantly raced over towards the house!
"Lisa! Open the door! The roof is going to collapse!" He shouted.
'Shit! Should I save the boy, or leave him here to die with that stubborn woman?' Chloe was caught in a dilemma. But she remembered the look that had adorned his face when she had first laid eyes on him and her heart softened. She ran after him.
"Lisaaa!!"
Eric shouted as the crack spread towards the house. He ran at the fastest speed possible and used a lot of his energy to punch at the door, but it only gained another dent along with the many the dotted it.
"Lisa! Lisa!" He shouted with every punch.
'Eric, I can never be your mother! I have no reason to live after hearing that my son is dead. Go out and find your path. You shouldn't stick with me. I have never loved you. Even if you manage to save me, my heart is already dead.' Tears streamed down Lisa's face as she looked at the screaming boy, who was using all of his strength to punch at the door.
'Right! Plasma!' Eric had a light bulb moment. He hurriedly activated the electrocytes so that he could form a plasma blade.
He brought his palm, glowing in a bluish orange close to the door. When it had just started melting the metal...
"Huh..." The concrete beneath his feet gave way! His face morphed into one of horror while looking towards the house before he was swallowed!
Chloe hurriedly dived down!
"Eric!?"
Lisa's worried voice came through the speakers.
The cracks widened and the house started sinking.
"Aaaah!" Lisa groaned when part of the house sunk. She had fallen down and was trying to pick herself up.
Before she could however, she felt her body becoming weightless before it slammed back onto the floor. It happened multiple times, and by the time it stopped, she had become unconscious, surrounded by rubble and blood flowing from somewhere on her body.
"Lisa!" A voice came from far away. She groaned and awakened.
Her vision was blurry and she couldn't feel her body. It was like she had lost it.
(Boom!)
A few minutes later, a piece of rubble collapsed and a dishevelled figure came through. He was covered in concrete dust which had mixed with the rain water making for an odd sight. He was bleeding on his forehead, and he was limping, trying not to put too much weight in his right leg.
"Thank God! Lisa!" He tripped and fell causing him to moan in pain, but that brought his face closer to hers.
Eric was currently in pain, but he was enduring it as he stared at Lisa. She was sprawled on her back with a large concrete piece on top of her chest. Her blood was soaking her body. Even her mouth had blood running down. It was widened a and she was taking laboured breaths.
"Li...(cough)...sa!" As Eric looked upon her form, tears streamed down his face. Even he could see that she was done for.
"Kuh!" She tried to raise her arm. Upon seeing that, Eric helped her. He placed it on his own cheeks.
Once he did, it was like a heavy burden had been dropped from her body. She took one last desperate gulp of air and smiled one last time before passing on.
Eric silently sobbed. He didn't so much as make a sound. Tears simply streamed down his face.
Chloe was nowhere to be seen. It looked like she hadn't managed to catch up with Eric.
