"Darling! I met with the emperor and empress yesterday! The fifth prince will be visiting soon since I'm giving you two the freedom to settle your marriage~" My mother sings.
"I know," I sigh. "They met with me last night,"
"Wonderful!" My mother rushes out the door. "Tell the servants to clean the house from head to toe! I want nothing left unclean! The fifth prince is visiting tomorrow!"
"So... Sir Trevino is visiting tomorrow?"
"Yes," My father smiles sympathetically. "Do not worry, for you will still be duke after me.
"Father... must I get married?"
"No," My father smiles. "But you seemed bent on helping the fifth prince gain power, so your mother and I agreed. And plus, your mother wants you to be wed and rule high society."
I can already see myself having a mental breakdown. "Father... if I want to run away... will you help me."
"You look desperate," My dad laughs. "Do not worry, for divorcing is just as easy as marriage these days."
"Don't let mom know you said that," I sigh.
"Marriage... I suppose marriage is only something you look forward to if you're marrying someone you love..." My father mumbles. "Darling, if at any point of the marriage you despise anything, feel free to come home. We welcome you with open arms."
I smile. "Alright-"
"CRYSTALIA BABY HELP ME OUT!" My mother cries. "WHICH COLOR DOES THE PRINCE LIKE BETTER-"
"I know he despises the empress's eyes," I mumble. "Avoid purple and I guess try green?"
"Sorry what?" My mother pauses. "Green?"
"Green doesn't go with our mansion's palette though," My dad mumbles. "Why not just use blue like we always have with the royals?"
"Dad has a point," I hum.
"Blue it is!" My mother rushes to let the servants know. What an energetic mother.
"So?"
"I think," My dad smiles at me. "That your marriage will go well."
"I wanted to get divorced in four years..." I turn to look at the side.
"Divorcing a royal family member is like treason." My dad smiles.
"I THOUGHT YOU SAID DIVORCE WAS JUST AS EASY AS MARRIAGE-"
"Not with royalty!~"
"DAD!!!"
"But your marriage will have terms and you need to sign the marriage contract that you two write so you can talk to him about it." My dad hums. "Why the divorce though?"
"High society is a pain in my back and taking over the dukedom will be after I get my well-deserved vacation," I grumble.
My dad laughs. "But what about an heir,"
"I'll worry about that when my age catches up to me," I grin.
My dad sighs. "I suppose nothing can be done. Who will you marry if you get divorced then?"
"Someone that I'll actually love," I hum. "I'm not sure yet."
"What if you fall in love with the fifth prince?"
"Then I'll suffer," I grin. "Chances are low."
My dad gives up. "Treason."
"But if in contract-"
"Treason."
"Off with my head?"
"Off with your head."
