"Leng Me!you are almost thirty and you are not married yet all the girls your age right now already have children and yet here you are only focused on the business if this goes on I am going to disinherit you!"bellowed grandfather.I pushed away my chair and walked away from the dinning table ignoring my father's aggitated voice it seemed I had already lost my appetite yet again.I never had dinner with any of my family members since they kept on pestering me on marriage as if one wakes up one morning and picks a husband from the tree just like one does to fruit.I walked upstairs to my room and locked the door.I slowly started taking off my suit as I threw my clothes on the floor too tired to put them away.Grandfather had threatened to disinherit me if I failed to get married and no one was going to marry me since I had a pretty serious reputation for one my heart just couldn't function not biologically but emotionally.Some people even went far as making fun of me that my name suited me well since it meant cold heart in Chinese"Leng Me De Xin" they never really said it to my face but I heard it from my assistant Yun Ming,who has now got a new job at a more paying firm.After a quick shower I fell asleep since I had been working for months on my recent case which I had successfully won.I was a divorce lawyer and since I got to witness clients getting divorced almost everyday I found no interest in getting married I considered it a scum.With so many thoughts in mind I fell asleep with a strong feeling of ache in my heart.I tossed and turned as my alarm went off yet I felt tired but I had to get up and get to work.I reluctantly went to bath after I wore my black suit with my briefcase in hand I quietly made my way downstairs.It was six in the morning and I expected no one to be up but surprisingly as I made my way down the stairs I heard voices in the kitchen."Leng will have to be married to Wei Xiang he comes from a reputable family and he is wealthy he can take good care of her and I remember Wei once mentioned that they attended highschool together,"I could tell that was my father's voice making a very horrible suggestion.Wei Xiang was nothing but a randy he-goat he was the worst womanizer I knew.Back in highschool he had slept with half the cheerleaders.I was intent on getting away unnoticed but by the look of things that was impossible.I made hasty steps aiming for the door when I heard my father's voice"Leng where do you think you are going?"he asked.I stopped and turned to great him good morning then came up with a reasonable excuse to live the house"Pa good morning ,I didn't see you there I was in such a hurry since I have a meeting in about one hour and I have to go prepare everything by myself because I don't have a personal assistant,"I answered.My father dismissed my explanation and ordered me to sit down and have breakfast with everyone else.I sat down as an uncomfortable silence filled the room and I had a feeling it was the come before a storm.I looked wearily at every member of my family as all of them seemed tense the only person looking excited was my grandmother."Leng Me tonight the Xiang's are going to visit for the proposal of your hand in marriage to their son Wei and you are expected to be here by eight and there is no room for argument since you couldn't find yourself a fine young man to settle down with or nobody dared to marry such an arrogant young woman,"grandfather said.I tried all I could not to retort but I had to,"You know what you can marry him by yourself and have him as the grandson you never had and I will not be attending tonight!"I retorted.I stood up and was about to leave when my father stopped me with his voice booming in the room,"Your accounts are all frozen and will only be opened once you are engaged to Wei Xiang or if you have a fiancee which I know you don't...."I have a fiancee and he will be here tonight,"I interrupted,"There is no need to bring that man whore in this house,"I said with finality."Leng Me De Xin you will not use such language in my house and where did you get a fiancee that we do not know about!"mother intervened.I l assessed each of their reaction before I told them what came to my mind first,"Reserve that question for him when he gets here tonight you will ask him and he shall give you his answer,"I said as I walked out.I could have sworn that I heard my grandmother call me a disgrace as I made my way out of the house.I didn't know where the idea of having a fiancee came from but now I had a problem where was I going to get a man good enough to be my fiancee in twelve hours and most important of all who was not interested in my family's fortune.I pressed the keys to my hongqi as I opened the door and slid in and drove through the roads of Beijing.As I drove through the city I was almost some blocks from the firm when my car broke down.I didn't know what to do since all my accounts were frozen and I tried calling my family's mechanic but he told me that he got strict orders from my father not to attend to me without money.I couldn't leave my car at the side of the road and just get to work it would have been stolen.As I looked around for someone to help me a man with black hair and a wrinkly suit came up to me,"Do you have a problem miss?"he asked.I stared at him since he was tall and really good looking but he looked awkward in that suit he didn't look like the type to put on a suit.I ignored him and remained quiet as I weighed my options then I remembered that I had no one to help me.As he was walking away I called out to him"Excuse me, yes I havea problem my car broke down and I don't know how to fix it,"I said.He looked at me then nodded his head,"oh! I see if you don't mind I would like to take a look at your car."I agreed as I watched him get to whatever he was doing and within an hour he was done and my car was roaring and ready to go.He looked at his watch which was bigger than his wrist then his eyes widened,"I am sorry Miss but I have to go I'm late for my interview,"he said then he walked away quickly.I was about to thank him when I realized I would be late for the meeting with my new personal assistant.By the time I looked around for him he had already disappeared in the streets.I got back in my car and drove for work thinking about the man who had helped me without asking for anything in return and he had called me Miss and he looked like he didn't know me at all and everyone in Beijing knew me and my family.My grandfather and father were known business men and my mother had been a famous actress and my grandmother she owned the popular parlours in Beijing and me the heartless renowned divorce lawyer all over Beijing the heir to the Xin's wealth and CEO of the family business.For the first time in my life I didn't feel like someone was trying to impress me because of my status but someone helped me out genuinely.I arrived at my office and immediately ordered for coffee as I took out my schedule for the day.I checked my clock and the one I was to interview was late.It was almost eight when I had a knock at the door,"Come in,"I said."Miss Leng Me there is a man outside who says is here for the post of personal assistant,"she informed."Let him in Jin,"I said.I was busy typing on my computer when I heard a knock and I told the person to come in without looking from my work,"You are late,"I said."I'm sorry I'm late I just got caught up on my way here please let me take the interview," the man said.I looked up and I was met face to face by a pair of eyes I had seen an hour ago standing in front of me fidgeting as his eyes became wide when he looked at me and realisation hit his delicate facial structures.
